ANOTHER graphics card question

I currently have an XFX nvidia 6600gt card (128mb, agp) and i was thinking of upgrading to a 256mb card

Looking on overclockers it seems taht there are some ATI cards taht are much cheaper than similar looking nvidia cards

what are the major differences between ati and nvidia, and is a cheaper card likely to be less good, even if they are both 256mb?

the way I understand it the memory isn't as important as other aspects. I've went from a 256 to a 128 with better results.

mikkyo is right.

often cards with more memory are doing it to make up for low end GPUs More Explanation here

Also This is really handy and lets you compare graphics cards easily.

When you start running higher resolutions the extra memory comes in handy, nowadays you'll probably end up with a 256mb card anyway

If you're looking at spending ~£150 go for the X1950 Pro AGP, below £100 i'm not really sure what to suggest

I framed that and hung it on the wall. I point it out occasionally to mrs mikkyo.
