5punk

For the forthcoming 5punk 2.0 (it is forthcoming, honest), it would be nice to have a set of ranks which follow a theme. Not necessarily changing the whole thing, but at the very least having them all in a particular style rather than the mismatch of pixel art, animated gifs and tiny pics we have now.

I'm happy to undertake the photoshoppery since I made most of the existing icons, but since we're having a revamp why not suggest some ideas of what you'd like to see. 5punky memes are always good, suggestions for styles (Grimmie-esque cartoon? animated? accurate to source?), are the rank divisions good, or anything else you think could be improved.

Also, Duke post count should be severely reduced, as DNF appears to be coming out.

I think we could lose some down the lower end of the spectrum where there's only 25 post gaps.

Possibly. It's nice for the new kids to have a little progression (should they care) early on without the next milestone being too far away. Maybe the 25 post increments above 100 could go though.

I figured it's a joke, but with it being out of 3drealms' hands and there being a playable demo on PAX, I think it's fair to say it's going to come out soon.

Personally, I think Salmon Ninja Pirate Gayer Slayer needs to exist for more than 1 post, blink and you miss it.

I think it was because people thought it was a punishment icon.

Is the consensus of (mostly) silence an indication that our eclectic collection of ranks is preferred then?

I'm quite happy to do some things™ given direction.

I did think GrimCons might have been a nice style*. Do we have a theme though?

Themes
5punk memes - Horses! Ninjas! Inaccessible to new members though.
Animals - In keeping with penguin/meercat of doom.
Games - More Gordon freemans / shamblers.
Zombies - Starting off with slow ones and progressing to TAAANKS!

Pixel art would be most intensive to create, but would at least allow for a unified style.

I like that it's the logo they haven't used for about twenty years, though.

We could add enemies from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, i.e.: snorks, pseudogiants, Burers.
