With the World Cup already a distant memory, it's time to look forwards to the new season. I know not many people here love football, but for those of you who will be doing a Fantasy Football team next season, the Premier League's one is now open for business:
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
I've started a league for 5punkers, and the code to join it is 5626-2411
So design your magenta-based kits and get a team entered.

To amuse myself, I made some selections based on the World Cup performances, which I won't use myself, so if someone who isn't particularly interested in football wants to enter them and join in, please do:
World Cup Stars (got to latter stages)
World Cup Fails (out in the first round)
They both ended up actually pretty good teams, are legal and use most if not all the money. It'd be interesting to see which would win over a season.

Haha, that's brilliant FJ. They don't like people entering more than one team, but if a couple of people who aren't bothered entered those teams I'd be very interested to see how they did too.

Here's some info about the managers and their positions in their playing careers. It's often you find that a former Defender (particularly a Central one) manages a team that does well in defense, even if that team isn't one of the usual high-flying suspects, Birmingham being a good example. Useful for picking good Defenders for your team.
Arsenal - Arsène Wenger - Sweeper (roaming central defender with good passing)
Aston Villa - Gérard Houllier - Midfielder
Birmingham City - Alex McLeish - Central Defender
Blackburn Rovers - Sam Allardyce - Defender
Blackpool - Ian Holloway - Midfielder
Bolton Wanderers - Owen Coyle - Striker
Chelsea - Carlo Ancelotti - Midfielder
Everton - David Moyes - Central Defender
Fulham - Mark Hughes - Forward
Liverpool - Roy Hodgson - Defender
Manchester City - Roberto Mancini - Striker
Manchester United - Alex Ferguson - Striker
Newcastle United - Chris Hughton - Left Defender
Stoke City - Tony Pulis - Central Defender
Sunderland - Steve Bruce - Central Defender
Tottenham Hotspur - Harry Redknapp - Midfielder
West Bromwich Albion - Roberto Di Matteo - Midfielder
West Ham United - Avram Grant - Attacking Midfielder
Wigan Athletic - Roberto Martínez - Midfielder
Wolverhampton Wanderers - Mick McCarthy - Central Defender
