Neptune's Pride

RPS have been running a game of this and reporting on it in their feed. It's a very streamlined 4X space empire game, designed to be macromanaged with a few minutes a day input. I've not tried it, but it could be interesting. You play in a small group, so we could have a little 5punky game without randoms. Potentially at least, you might have to pay for it to do private games, but I'm sure we could just fill one if we fancied a go.

EDIT: Never mind, you've got to pay just to create a game. The only free games are joining random ones.

$20 for all of us (that buys you 200 credits and it costs 50 to start a free-to-join passworded server). I might play through a few random games to see if it's any good first.

I remember PCG talking about this in their podcat, and thinking that it might be good to get a 5punky game going. If there is enough interest in it, I would happily plop down $20 for it, if thats all it needs.

This is like GalCon / Eufloria, right? Only much slower. I'm bad at those, but I'd be up for a game.

It's kinda more like Solium Infernum if you read those RPS articles.

I have been following this on RPS, seems not to have the charm of SI and most of it's appeal is by the players outguessing themselves rather than the game offering things people can play off.

All possibly true, but SI isnt browser based, and costs 29.99 each. Not sure its really filling the same niche.

Yeah, so if anyone else read the final installment earlier this week, it wasn't fun.

Granted, they do mention that there were some upgrades that came into the game while theirs was on (obviously only included in new games and not their existing one) like the alliance button which goes some way to addressing some issues, but it does seem as if the game is rather hollow at the moment. And too intensive. And revolving really around who has the most ships.
