Wanted - The comic, not the film

"This is my face while I'm fucking you in the ass"
That's the last line of this comic, aimed at the reader, with a big picture of the main character doing a
face. It says more about this comic than I can. But I'll try anyway.
Yes, this is apparently the comic that the film Wanted was based on. But other than a vaguely similar start and the fact that the main guy is good at guns, its utterly different. I mean *utterly* different. I don't quite get why they didn't just drop the licence and call it something else, its such a different story that its unrecognisable.
There is no stupid ass bit of cloth telling them what to do.
There is no bending bullets.
There is no attempt to make the bad guys seem like good guys. Not even a little.
Unlike the film, the story in this (ever so mild SPOILER warning, skip to the end of the paragraph if you do not want) is that superheroes/villains are real, but in the late 80's the villains won. All the heroes were either killed or brainwashed into thinking they are not heroes. There's a lot of references to other comic books, like a hero called "The Detective" who had a kid sidekick, and one of the villains keeping a ragged red cape as a souvenir. One of the ex heroes, referred to as the man of steel, is now a wheelchair bound has been. Yeah, its not too bothered about good taste, this comic.

Its a short run (only 6 issues), and isn't the best comic I've read recently, but its worth checking out. Especially if you like things a little dark and different. Just don't think that its *anything* like the film.
