Revelations: What to do with the new stuff?

I've not been on yet, but want to clarify some stuff so I don't run off and buy every new skill out there

We could cover these new toys as a corp quite happily. In order then:
Contracts
Definitely. I'd see certainly the directors and anyone involved in the production and sales of 5punkships getting the extra corp contract skill. I'll make sure to add the Contract Manager role to the Production Director title so you can do contracts for the corp.
Combat Organisation
Not entirely essential for 5punkfleet as we have limited gang skills afaik. Nice to have though - I'm guessing Wiggy is going to major on this since your leadership skills are already pretty good?
Exploration & Scanning
A must have IMO. Don't know what the skills are or how it works, but system scanning is the first step (survey 5 or something?) Does anyone in the corp specialise in scanning and probes already and want to investigate this further?
Invention
Someone with an R&D agent, ties into Exploration, needs Other Stuff™. The lure of a T2 BPC is of course high but it looks like tough road to get there. I know Larantia/Miro Mishu is interested in this - what are the steps necessary to get a BPC and how can we work together to get there? On that note, anyone have an R&D agent already? Looks like they might start dropping again.
Rigs & Salvaging
Looking at the numbers you need a lot of salvage to get enough to make a rig (NPC drops 1 - 2 per wreck, need 3 - 500 for a rig afaik). Effectively becomes another form of mining/loot collecting but for the ratters. If we all worked on it whilst smashing rats we could probably get enough together to build some. And because of this they should be quite profitable. If not there'll be a decent market in the salvage itself.
Other Stuff
Any new complexes popped up nearby? Hopeful!
New ships - I'm personally going to wait until the costs come down a bit. Drakes resale for 120mill at the moment which is nuts. And someone remind me to take that WCS off my ratting boat - been meaning to do it for ages.

What are the pre-reqs for contracts?
As for exploration and scanning I have survey 4 at least (may have some of the points towards 5 already) so I can divert briefly from the carrier skills to do them.
I do have an R&D agent (somewhere) that I can put back into use, I stopped it a while back to get another one, but never got the points for the other one and gave up.

When I'm done training for an Arazu I'll get the necessary scanning skills and I'll be getting gang skills as well, my charisma is naturally high from when I started (not regretting that so much now).

Do we have anyone with the T2 production skills to go along with this?

Almost. Mano can do all the T2 components but would need to spend an hour or two training up the specifics for whichever BPC we might get.

More T2 bpos are getting seeded soon

If we're lucky maybe this is our chance to get into T2 production.

please please please, get something that I can use. Vagabond BPO would be nice, too.

Also, if anyone is interested in salvaging, don't bother training mechanic or survey 5. They're planning on lowering the skill requirements in next tuesdays patch.

that would be cool but CCP sucks monkey nut hair juice so the 5 or 6 people that have them all now will get all the new ones probably. there whole method of getting them out is whack and needs an overhaul. let me know if we need iskies for a raffle ticket or what ever i'll help

Suppose I'd better.... fancy buying me a +4 Charisma implant?

Alright.. I did some homework today and:
I started 2 R&D agents at lvl2 earning me just under 50 RP's a day for caldari starship engineering.
What this means to you: I have entered into the most sought after competitive field for R&D. I will be also entering into Quantum Physics when I train it up a few along with getting more Agents. (1 per lvl of Research Management + 1 base just for playing the game.)
So if everything i've read is true.. BPO's are given out thru a lottery based system. Each RP you have gets you an entry into the lottery. As an example I will have 100 RP's between two agents after today. If they were to give out a thousand Nighthawk BPO's tomorrow I would have 100 chances to win it. This competes with *everyone* else who is researching the same skill as me and at the same skill level (i compete against people who are using lvl2 agents.) So my chances are slim to none, as people have a gazillion RP's and its only gonna rise. Now realistically, the nighthawk is only going to be available to lvl4 agents, but for sake of simplicity i used it as an example.
So.. I plan on running 2 Caldari Starship Engineering @lvl2 and two Quantum Physics @lvl2 then running missions for those 4 agents and earning enough to get to a lvl3 agent, then running missions for him to get to lvl4. Once at level 4 I will be cancelling 1-2 of my lvl2 agents and re-assigning to a lvl4 agent.
The terrible thing is: if you cancel the agent you lose ALL RP's earned thru him.
Anyhow, i'm spreading out my fields of research a bit due to the fact that the most popular choice (caldari starship eng) has the least chance of getting somthing whereas Quantum Physics is less popular and yeilds a higher chance of getting somthing due to less demand and people acutally doing the skill.

In response to the contracts skill:
I had 20 escrow's up yesterday. Now I can only sell one item.. boo.
I would love to have access to sell more things at a time. I have a ton of BPC's and such that I need to liquidate and even with max 'contracts' I will only be able to set up 16 at a time.
I would be willing to learn 'Corporate Contracts' to sell for the corp if needed as you get +10 per level or 51 possible sales at lvl5

About Invention:
Ok, invention needs Datacores and salvage pieces to function + a BPO/BPC of a T1 ship.
Datacores will get obtained thru exploration/salvage as well as thru my R&D agents. I can purchase datacores for RP's. There will be 30ish of one type of datacore and 30ish of another type + salvage pieces to upgrade a BP to a t2.
It's alot of work. With the seeding of new t2 BP's i dunno if i wanna spend hard earned RP's on datacores, but we shall see how it all turns out.
At the moment, I suggest collecting the salvage and seeing how much of the actual stuff we get right off.
Is anyone else going to be running R&D? It's free, so I don't see why everyone doens train the skills to get it going...

Jonny will be learning contracts skills as well, I hope to get him trained so he can escrow on behalf of Fw4ppers. Got 5 days left on Production Efficiency 5 first though

Im currently in Heimatar on a skill buying session, who wants me to bring them stuff back?
*Looks around shiftily and opens his coat* I got rigging skills, salvaging, pretty much all of the new ones it looks like, shall I bring back a rack of them for the corp?

Yes please for me, Fab - actually on second thoughts I have no idea what I need - salvage (?) skill at least. I'll run up to empire and go shopping sometime.
My preliminary findings:
Explorations and the new probes are awesome. This is the basis for a lot of the new game content and something I intend to concentrate on. Well worth a few people doing this I think. Next Tuesday's patch is going to knock the prereq's for exploration down to Survey 4.
Gas cloud harvesting uses the ice mining skills. Don't know if we have any nearby, but if there happens to be one in GMLH, then setting up a biohazard storage and chemical lab could be a good niche market for combat boosters (and a viable alternative to reactions perhaps - need to do more work on that).
It seems like building rigs is difficult enough to make it worthwhile (profitable) but everyone should try to fit a salvager when out ratting cos the hardest bit is going to be getting enough parts for them.
Invention is hard and there's every chance that it all goes tits up and burns your T1 BPO into the bargain. I'll be leaving this to the professionals! Miro - looks like you've got this side of things pretty well wrapped up but I second you on the R&D agent thing. I'll see if I can find one when I'm next in empire even if I just use it to buy datacores.
I think I already set Miro or Larantia to 5punk Trader title (can't remember which). That should give you the roles Trader, Contract Manager and buy/sell for the corp. If not gimme a shout in game and I'll fix it.
