At least you logged out safely?

Now you can use this to get 'them' to get you proper support to finish the haul.

I had no idea we had the empire frieghter in this.... Did it draw any fire/get damaged?

Yeah I missed all the 'fun' as I had a phone call, but I ended up as a floating cyno gen with nowhere to go which was crap anyway. Still atleast one of my ships saw some action. :w00t:

wtf is in the frieghter anyway? :?

If you wanna move the frieghter tomorrow in the daytime when it is going to be safer then I will scout/whatever no probs. Tho I suspect if it contains the <insert super secret content> then you prolly shouldn't. Still I think we have a better chance of achieving something than the ISSN blob does.

did F4R come back on line again? I jumped in and the whole universe froze on me. I logged to hear news on vent that the same had happened to Wiggy, some other ISS pilots and probably to a Priory Wolfpack aswell. Should be fun if we all log back on at the same time. I logged out of vent bed bound as people were talking about servers going down....

To be fair there was a fairly animated discussion in the management channel about why we were so insistant on charging down with 8 freighters and an inadequate escort. The fault, if any, really lies with Stins - he was under a lot of time pressure since he'd borrowed freighters and promised to have them back in Berta by midnight. I refrained from saying 'told you so' at the end when we spent hours fucking about in 1P and ended up logging for the night. As before, had we gone the Assah route we'd be there and back in the time we spent prevaracating in Berta. The fault also lies with ISSN fleet commanders, who don't know the Assah route and baulk at the idea of going the extra 12 jumps.

Worth expounding on the advantages of that route on the ISS forum as well methinks. A little deception in Litom while the freighters go the other way would work wonders.

I've just been on for 10 minutes this morning, to find Gunslinger saying "Oh, Litom is camped". I'll be honest, I've seen this happening far too often in fw4ppers/x-5punkers channels lately, and I'd like to put forward a motion to ban all 5punkorp travel through Doril for the time being. Not to go against the 5punky way or anything, but even if we deny Priory/TCF even one cheap shuttle kill, they're more likely to piss off and go bother someone else.

Can't agree enough with this. In my admittedly limited experience the Assah route offers a far safer alternative to going through Doril. Of the two return journeys I've made through the Doril pipe, I've been podded twice; whereas I've made double the journeys through Assah and the most threat I've encountered was a wave from a UK guy I've never encountered before. I'm assuming the most dangerous part of this route is around the G-5 <->Assah area, which, on the occasions I've been through this way, has always been crawling with UK bods; the reason (again an assumption) it's so lacking in bad guys.

Should also point out that I am lost as to the subject of this thread and so if my comments are not valid then apologies.

well, aside from getting stuck in 1p, what really went wrong?

We got caught by a chasing group that we knew was there and managed to evade with the loss of a few ships, but no cargo.

We did foolishly run headfirst towards a large camped fleet that, due to superior intel on our behalf (/me nods at Wiggy, amongst others) was out of the way before we got there (although I suppose that several of them joined the chasing group. I do distinctly recall hearing a door shut behind us somewhere between Litom and 1P).

OTOH, we perhaps should have known that the chasing fleet would catch us and logged the freighters earlier (before they became agressed). We also could have at least scouted the Asash route while arseing around in Berta.

We also may (and I emphasise may, the red flashy fleet looked really big from where I was sat) have been in a very different situatin if we had managed to call carriers in.

My guess is that the main problem was a lack of planned alternatives and overconfidence after the previous ops. I recall thinking "third time's the charm" when I logged on. It would seem possible to have at least 3 plans in place, depending on what the intel gave us;

1. Primary route
2. Secondary route
3. Reschedule

As I'm not sure what we were running (but let me think about that... yes I've a reasonable idea) I'm not sure of the time pressures involved.

In this case, I also agree with friz about sending a diversionary group up the Doril pipe while jogging round the back with the freighters. It would have given TauCeti what they wanted (a fight) and allowed us to complete the op. Sadly, as the call to arms from Marge demonstrated, there were not enough willing pilots on last night to bring down a useful reinforcing fleet so we would have been short on resources to fulfill that plan anyways, I guess.

Still, a learning exercise and not too much lost really, given the possibilities.

Now we just have to get the freighters out of 1p, on a weekend...

Spot on. When 5punkorp made our first tentative forrays into Catch, the Doril pipe was claimed and camped 24/7 by Curse Coalition and Centre for Disease Creation who were both hostile to ISS, effectively denying any use of that route at all. We used Assah all the time then and only occasionally ran into Establishment camps in G-5EN2. Since CC/CDC collapsed and moved away, the Doril pipe has been largely friendly which is fortunate, but now Priory has taken up residence it's back to where we were a year ago. But the main difference is that Ushra'Khan are significantly bigger and more established in Providence than they were before (and Est have gone South for the winter).

So, although we won't go so far as to 'ban' 5punkers from using Doril, I strongly encourage everyone to use the Assah route wherever possible - even so a scout, lots of WCS and ISS Providence channel are a must. You should be wary around 9UY, although it's full of UNITY you do sometimes get hostiles around there. Also have a scan point in range of both gates in G-5 (the Assah gate is the one usually camped) and you'll need instas taking you well into empire through Assah itself - this is where pirates go for their tea breaks and can be hostile sometimes.

Yeah, tho I expect it to begin with a frieghter op rescuing from last nights. Seens as our freighter is involved I shall help out with that also.

The main op has the use of dreads so i've heard - tho that could be chinese whispers...

We ignored the fact we were being chased by a TCF gang

Some people died
