Yes that's right, finally they have managed to use the Tiff exploit to open up Homebrew to all 2.80 users  :boogie:  :boogie:  :boogie:

http://www.pspfanboy.com/2006/11/15/kri ... -released/

Once I have worked everything out and got stuff up and running, I will create a no nonsense simple guide to what files you need, and how to get it up and running.

I plan on using the Installatron which basically means you download/install homebrew over your wi-fi connection, and you don't have to manually install any homebrew ever again.

The important thing here for me is the console emulators, as I'm not bothered about running pirated games on my PSP, but the thought of playing all my old megadrive games on the PSP excited me greatly :excited:

I plan on adding the relevant files to the PSP section on /downloads, but I might need some help from those of you that use homebrew and aren't 2.80 users

I haven't actually read the link but does it give the same features as the 1.50 firmware, ie. run anything at full kernel speed?

From eloader readme

Code: Select all

It currently cannot run all known homebrew, but it uses a number
of tricks to get substantially further than ever before.
Known limitations are:

- Can't run most kernel-mode applications.
  - That means anything that emulates ISOs/UMDs.
- Some minor system calls are still unsupported.

Code: Select all

 - Experimental homebrew loading direct from the XMB (PSP menu). This
is known as 'xLoader', and is currently for v2.80 firmware only.
This works by patching the system, so that you can run homebrew directly
from the 'GAME' menu, just like v1.0 and v1.5 PSPs

 - General compatibility has been improved substantially for TIFF mode
on all firmwares. There should no longer be any need to run homebrew,
   e.g. SNES9xTYL, from GTA

Edit: from PSP Updates - http://pspupdates.qj.net/eLoader-v0-995 ... /aid/72997

Code: Select all

Here's a compatibility list (thanks to Freeplay) of the "major" PSP homebrew applications and games. You can download them all from our download site, so you'll get the fastest downloads available! Each will have the name of the game/application followed by a brief description, click on the name to download.

[Daedalus R8] - StrmnNrmn's N64 emulator for the PSP - latest and best release so far
[PSPRadio v0.38.12 - Static] - One of my favorite applications - listen to various online "radio" stations that are perfectly streamed to your PSP via WiFi
[PiMPStreamer v0.62] - Wirelessly transmit videos to your PSP at crips, clear quality and sound (newer versions available, but v0.62 reported to work
[PSP Revolution v0.1] - Dance Dance Revolution clone for PSP - Created by DeNitro (Great game!)
[SuperTux] - Deniska, porting-guru, ported this classic side-scrolling game to the PSP with a perfect transition. Seeing this game on the list reminded me how much fun I had with the game, I'm going to re-download it!
[FileAssistant++] - 71M's greatest creation - a file managing program for the PSP (best managing system)
[Squarez v0.8.1] - Socal's greatest creation, the classic homebrew Squarez. I played 20+ hours of this (yes, I have the logs to prove it)
[SNES9x TYL v0.4.2 ME] - Greatest SNES emulator (created by YoYofr)
