Well i am currently in the British Army and live in the UK London and next year in Jan i going to do a resettlment course in HGV (Trucks) in class 1 and 2 also with Fork lift. Now as i trying to learn what wages what are good and bad and have some sort of idea. I was woundering on what advice u can give me. Remember Army life different to civi life so i nervous about the change I going to face.
What i am asking is that people in Truck driving or HGV whats you're advice in starting off. What should i mainly look for and what wages do u think is good?
I am looking at Royal mail but a driver said get into a agentice? to get experiance and then try for Rail Mail. Now if i gain experiance in class one I would want go to Royal Mail Logistic which be good morney and all they do is drive!
Is there a good website for HGV work other than jobdenterpluse? Remember i havent got it yet and hope to pass in Jan next year.
Sorry for spelling or bad gramma and thxs for the advice in advance.

You might want to have a look at the Commercial Motors magazine - it's quite good for information about the industry and will probably have a job section in it too.
I've also PM'd you a link to the website of one of the companies in the group I work for. It looks like there are currently vacancies for Class C & E drivers, but as that means fuck all to me I've no idea if it's any use to you. Either way give a look over.

the only experience i have with truckies, is the guys who work for a company called CTS who are contracted by the RAF to bring our bombs and bullets up to lossie. speaking to one of them, for long distance driving (south coast ports) up to lossie (NE scotland) having HGV cat 1 licence, forklift truck licence, and an ADR licence (carriage of dangerous goods), along with a clean driving licence and a decent reference, he said he started on 18K, and was on 26K a year after 8 years.....
take it with a pinch of salt because i dunno if he was a lying civvy or not, but there ya go

My old home town was a bit of a mecca for Stobart spotters (yes, there are people geeky enough to do that). One of thae factories in the town has a little shunt type truck thing, used to move the trailers around the place. Its technically owned by Stobart but doesnt leave the site, so the only way for the spotters to add it to their list was for them to camp outside and hope for a glimps.
The sad fucks.
It was quite spooky, when I worked there as a summer job. You would be there having your coffee, and suddenly notice a dozen people in plastic coats staring at your through the fence.

I'm reminded of that Army advert where they veer off the road into the woods and turn the lights off. Don't do that.

I'm now nearly finished my forst year of being a civvy again. I got no Drivers licence things though so cant help you, they took them off me when I had my funny turn. Then kicked me out the army. I'm not bitter though.
