i'm looking to stick in an ati pci graphics card to fit in an abit a-s78h mobo. i have three questions on this topic:

1. out of the four supported cards, the hd2400xt, the hd2400pro, the hd3470 and the hd3450, which card has the best performance?

2. if i installed one of these cards to the mobo would i have to use the display connectors from the new gfx card or could i use one of the display connectors from the mobo (vga, dvi, hdmi)

3. if the highest performing card out of the 4 was installed to the mobo what sort of performance should i be expecting in games at reasonably high resolutions? the pc has an amd x2 5200 at stock and 2gb of 667mhz ddr2 ram


any help is welcome as i cant find much info about this newish hybrid crossfirex stuff.

all 4 of those will be slow as fuck. You might be able to leave your monitor plugged in to the motherboard if your stuff supports Hybrid Crossfire, but most likely you'd have to plug into the card.

I'd say the 3470 will be the fastest but that's like comparing different brands of molasses.

i know they're all pretty slow, in my real rig i have a 4850 so i'm reasonably in the know about these things. the problem is that this crappy computer i want to put hybridcrossfirex in only has a 200 watt psu and i dont think it could handle a decent card, so this hybridcrossfirex seemed like the best solution.

A 200 watt psu like you claim would not be able to handle 2 of those cards. It probably couldn't handle just one.

Likely any machine built to those specs wasn't intended to be upgraded beyond ram and a HDD, Not to mention all the cards you list advise a considerably more powerful PSU (300W+)

I'd imagine the PSU in the machine in question is put simply, shit, you'd have to work to find a good ATX psu below 250W these days.

agreed the psu is bollocks. i was just checking to see how much performance i could eeek out of the crappy pc whilst spending very little. i think i'll just leave it alone, seeing as i got it working with an amd 5200 and 2gb ddr2
