Due to being the first one in my family to go to uni, my parents have decided to buy me a new monitor (hooray!)
I'm looking for something with the best res and contrast for the price with VGA, DVI and HDMI for PC/Mac/sexboxing... That will fit in the 52cm hole in my desk. After a look around and a gander at some reviews this seems to meet my needs pretty well:

However if anyone knows of anything better in the same price range I'd be grateful

That's probably fine. But in that price range I'd go for this one:

BenQ usually make really good monitors. Ignore the contrast ratios, they're all lies. The contrast of every single monitor will be around 1000:1 at best. What they list is dynamic contrast which is a completely useless feature where they turn the brightness up and down depending on whats on screen. You'll probably want to turn it off to stop it annoying you.

I'd take benq or samsung over LG (hell, I'd take a PC world special over LG)

Their high end stuff is good, most high end monitors use either LG or Samsung panels but their low end is mostly meh.

Hummm. According to a number of reviews the BenQ has a few problems with motion blur, which considering i'm going sexbox it might prove a bit annoying.
I was looking at the ViewSonic VX2260wm, which at the moment is £151.99 on
amazon and seems to have got pretty good reviews:

But I'm still on the fence.

All my BenQs had at least one dead pixel (by that I mean always lit/unlit R/G/B subpixels) cluster. It's not all that annoying if it's around the edges, but once you notice it won't stop bugging you. Although knowing me, it's probably just my luck.
