Yeap, that trailer looked all kinds of good.

Really liked the detail shown in the brief glances at the hangers under the ziggurats (probably Yavin IV). The X-Wings and the pilots looked pretty much spot on of the original trilogy rather than VIII (expected, considering the ~40 years between them).

Also, AT-AT's! Woo!

Just realised that the music at the end being a combination of the Rebel and Imperial themes might be significant. I mean, I know it shows her being arrested by the Rebels and also in an Imperial uniform, but I reckon there might be more to it than the bad girl anti-hero rebelling against everyone.

Watched that over my breakfast. I like the look of the weird space warping moments. Doesnt really tell us a lot that people familiar with the character dont already know, but it does confirm that Binkybonk Cumblebumbs was a good casting choice, looks wise at least.

Ghostbusters - trailer 2

I mean, yes it looks utter shit, but I don't understand the intense hate that it's getting.

Stark Trek: Beyond - trailer 2

Seems like a bit of a tone shift from the first trailer, which is understandable given how divisive that turned out to be.

It is the circlejerk. I think it's popular to hate it to a point of excess, so people do.

That's not to say it isn't looking like a massive abortion of a movie, but y'know, hollywood gonna often badly rehash things that were good already, it's nothing they've not been doing forever.

Nikita, Taxi, The Italian Job, Ocean's Eleven, Psycho, Get Carter, Rollerball, It, Jumanji, Karate Kid, The Wicker Man, Clash of the Titans, Poltergeist, The Stepford Wives, Carrie, Oldboy, The Man From Uncle, Trainspotting, Gone in Sixty Seconds, Evil dead, King Kong, World war Z, The Omega Man, The Andromeda Strain...

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

Despite all the flack that Tom Cruise gets, I liked the first film. This one looks to be more of the same, and I'm happy with that. Probably going to give the books a whirl for some popcorn reading fodder.

There's exactly one of these that I strongly disagree is a bad rehash. I'll give you the rest, but remake/reboot doesn't necessarily equal bad.

Heat, Some Like it Hot, Dredd, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Cape Fear, Captain America, Nolans Batman, Little Shop of Horrors, The Man Who Knew Too Much...

I was merely listing rehashes, given opinions and tastes vary.

I guess the issue is that people only remember the bad rehashes as being rehashes. When the new version is better people tend to forget that the original even existed.

I've read all the books thanks to my father in law mentioning them a few years ago. I really enjoyed the first film even if Cruise isn't exactly as Reacher is described in the books.

6'5" and built like a wall.

This has however lead to excellent discussions where we have tried to decide who should have played reacher.

Rogue One is looking pretty dark for a Star Wars film. I've heard Disney made them re-film parts of it to make it a bit more kid friendly. Hopefully it keeps the war film vibe the trailers give it.

It's Comic Con time, so that means a shit ton of trailers:

DC stuff:

Suicide Squad

Wonder Woman

Justice League

It appears that DC may have finally kicked things up a notch - all this looks quite promising. Also looks like they're finally emerging from the non-stop doom and gloom phase.

Marvel stuff:

Doctor Strange

Looks pretty damn sweet (though I believe any film that uses the phrase "what if I told you..." in its trailers should automatically be docked £50m from all box office takings).

Edit: and Brie Larson just announced as Captain Marvel - awesome news

The WW and Suicide Squad trailers look pretty good, but I was extremely underwhelmed by the Justice League trailer. It had some nice moments but was overall rather flat. Plus, as one commenter pointed out, Cyborg looks like an NVidia graphics card made human.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Excaliburs (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword)

Kong: Skull Island

I had such little interest in watching a new King Kong film that I nearly didn't watch the trailer. Having seen it though it looks like it could be pretty damn good - getting a Godzilla (the most recent one) vibe off it.

That that Kong trailer looks like the latest Godzilla probably isn't a coincidence, I've read somewhere that they were planning on doing another king kong vs godzilla film.

I've seen the King Arthur trailer earlier today, it looks like every other Guy Ritchie film except they threw some magic and swords in there and slapped the now obligatory desaturation felcher on it. I prefer the literature version of King Arthur (like John Boorman's Excalibur, which I love) over the weird trend where everyone tried to prove he was a real dude during the Roman empire days, but this doesn't look like I'd enjoy it at all.
