Well I like it and I will be buying the full game unless it gets panned in the reviews I suppose. I want to see how the weapons will work mostly.

Well my ongoing budget limitations mean that I can't afford to regularly spend money on games, so when I do I want it to be for something that adds variety to what I currently have. Hence I will be getting Quake Wars rather than this. I'm afraid the beta that I played left me feeling distinctly "meh". Having said that, it did take me a while to get into beef properly too, but I feel less inclined to make the effort with this than I did for BEEF.

Pfft
The 5punky beta types seem to think this is a bit rubbish; and given that I very rarely play anything other than vanilla and POE, it's definitely off the the shopping list.

Well the game seems fine to me so either the problems have been fixed or people were being overly critical IMO. Although, the demo is limited to one map (with two modes of play) and limited weapons available so you can't get the full picture. It is very similar to BF2 but the new mode and weapons give it enough variety for me to take an interest.
Play the demo for yourself and make up your own mind.

THIS
I also like the fact they have improved how easy it is to fly, as this makes sense, and helps balance the game better for those of us without flying haxx skills
Had problems working out how that pod launcher thing worked, and I still don't know, so I had to wait for a chopper before I could get onto the floating base thingy.
I really enjoyed it, and I don't know why everyone gave it such bad reviews, as it's "like Battlefield 2, but different". I know that's a contradicition, but that's the point, as it plays very similar to BF2, but it has enough changes to warrant it being a different game, and not some glorified expansion where nothing new has been done.
Even if Quake Wars is amazing, I still want to buy this game.

From what I understand the APCs have pod launchers and they need to be near enough. There's a little indicator to the right of your crosshairs, when you're close enough the pod is at the top of the dots. You also need to be in the right position in the APC: F4, F5, F6, etc should work.

I found this
http://www.desinc.net/bf2142_review and have to agree with the points that this guy has raised, particularly the point about these futuristic soldiers being very unfit and tiring out after 10 paces of sprinting.

I'm getting a funny problem with the demo, although I'm not sure if it's that or my new router causing the problem. Whenever I try to connect to a game I lose my connection, and not only that but I have to reset my router to get the connection back again. Anyone know what might be the cause of it?

No, but if it's any consolation, I know a couple of people who are having this problem.

Yay! It's working now. I have to say I quite like it. The vehicles don't seem to dominate as much as they do in BEEF, I don't have a problem with the recoil and sprinting, and I really like the Titan mode. I like how the game changes to corridor tactics once a titan's shields are down, and if you don't like that then you can still fight over the silos and contribute that way. The only issue I have with it so far is that when you're in a turret of a helicopter thing you don't know which direction the vehicle is facing because you have no points of reference.

Only thing I found that was bad was the anti tank weapon made next to no damage against a walker, and because you have no grenades in the demo, you were pretty much useless unless you found a turret to shoot them with.
I actually thought the gun turret is greatly improved as you have a wider range to shoot.

i read somewhere, that they go down pretty quickly if you shoot them in the knees or (from underneath) in the crotch
havent had a chance to test this yet though

Actually, speaking of the AT thing (being the rocket whore that I am), the missile creates a helluva lot of light and smoke when you fire it, making it difficult to see what you're shooting at for a short time. More of a quirk than a problem, but slightly irritating.
