ok now i ordering a computer from dell. ok they may not be well liked but i looking at getting it for £1132 but i was looking at the USA site and wow!! better but cheaper compared to UK.

If i got the computer in the states what would i need to change for the UK? as in Power supply for one but anything else or is that all i need to change?

now just woundering can someone tell me they can get that cheaper in UK market?

you may not even have to change the PSU, they usually have a switch to change the input voltage.


However, remember that a fucking huge dell parcel coming into the uk *WILL* get hit with import duty (between 5 and 20% IIRC) and VAT.

prices wise i'll have a looksee what can be made for that sort of money, i suspect it'll be close.

And forget about your warranty and and any Dell support.

Should be possible to get close. if not undercut dell on that price.


Undercutting would require some consideration of components, for example the E6600 won't offer that much more performance over the E6400. and the E6600's 4mb cache is pretty much useless to gamers, won't offer enough performance for the £80-odd extra

Being procecuted for libel is pretty hard. All you have to do is say "i think..." and then its your opinion, "allegedly..." its someone elses opinion. Only when you say "They are... " then you are promoting something as an (untrue) fact.

Actually, you're kinda both right. Technically, Prof could be sued for saying all that. It doesnt matter if you say alledgedly or anything, merely repeating a defamitary comment someone else has said is still libel. Hell, theres been cases where people have successfully sued the *distributers* of newsletters that contained libelous statements, because the distributer knew about the statement.

That being said, actually winning the libel case would be quite hard for him, as its based on a number of things, one of which is the number of people who reads the libelous statement. 5punks doing reasonably well at the moment, member wise, but it probably wouldnt be enough people for the judge not to go "pfft!" and dismiss the case.

Of course, you could just say "I dont like overclockers, for reasons that would be potentially libelous to repeat", and you are perfectly safe, plus we know who you are talking about and that you dont like them for a reason other than "they are a bit shit" or some such.

in all honesty, i dont have a problem with them. Ive ordered from them a couple of times and found the service to be decent. The prices are pretty ok. And they stock some specialist stuff that not many do.

Why dont you guys like them?

I've very recently used the accused. The only problem I've generally had with them is that they charge £8 for courier delivery regardless of what you buy, but now I've also got a beef with the fact that they charged me for it as next day delivery but took a couple of weeks to dispatch my stuff even though it was all in stock. It was delivered the day after they could be arsed posting it though

My problem with them is not the service. It is with the owner. I have been a member of the forums there for many years and can safely say the guy is a first class cupcake.

He is xenophobic, intolerant and runs those forums as if he were Lord and Master of anyone who enters them.
