I'm not a hardcore mapper; I kind of get diverted away from projects. But I have made one and am in the process of making another. You can see 'em at
http://www.snarkpit.com/users.php?name=Renegatus so take a look if thou wish.

Great stuff, I was hoping another mapper would appear at 5punk, as I have a few ideas for later on once I've transfered the hosting of 5punk's forums.
I'll let you know nearer the time.
P.S. Do you map for any other games?

Please, let me know! I have mapped for UT2003/UT2004/Postal 2 before, as they all use the same engine. I also did some stuff for Far Cry. Basically, if I got a game that comes with an SDK, I find out how to use it!

On mushrooms, mushrooms. I really wanna make a CS: S level but can't think of a setting.

bank raid!
i demand a good old fashioned semi-realistic hostage scenario, but not a bloody militia or assault clone.
I have been looking at mapping for source, but hammer still sucks hard

How about a bank?
I haven't mapped since JKII, but I'll be more than willing to help work on stuff.

A bank it is! That's quite a good idea actually, well done guys. I'll draw up some shizzay on paper first, that always seems to help. I'll do it tomorrow in my free period and scan it in when I get home! Yay!

OK, so I very quickly drew up what the level could map out like. It's quite crude and I got some bits wrong but the idea is there. What do you think about adding an upper level to it also? Basic idea is that CTs start in the bogs and the Ts start in teh vault (obviously).

I would make sure that opposing sides are on "opposing sides" of the map if I were you, otherwise the right hand side of the map won't get used at all :D
Try sticking some big hall inbetween both of the opposing rooms so that it's not too quick and easy to reach the opposing sides spawn.
Plus it's always a good idea to have 2 entrances/exits for each of the spawn points.
Does that make sense? I could quickly paint mash something up for you

Yeah, good thoughts. I suppose I was thinking more what the layout of a bank would be like rather than how it'd play well. Mash me something. Actually, thinking about it, cs_office is nothing like an office!

Okay, here you go
http://www.5punk.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/b3ta/csbank.jpg
As for what you put in the middle, you'll have to have something, maybe desks or soemthing to stop it being easy to shoot form one room into the opposite room.
But this way people spawn form opposite sides of the map, and then have 2 routes to choose to get into the main lobby, and then they are opposite each other rather than next to each other on the same side of the map.
Does that make sense?
I have never made a map for a game before, so I may be talking out of my arse!

It's nice. Perhaps in the middle could the a row of the cashiers and to the side just some tables. We need to play around with several layouts first though, really.

This sounds great.
I like the idea of the cashiers desks, and some general 'in the way' type stuff in the main hall, maybe an upper level to the main hall with a balcony all/half the way round, or some kind of mezzanine arrangement!.
(And don't forget the barrels

)
