Torrent of 5punk

Berk and I have been fiddling with bittorrent on my server of late to enable us 5punkers to transfer backups and game patches etc* files discreetly.
Its just like normal bittorrent, except its run over hamachi so that its private.

Read up and have a go:

Downloading Using the 5punk bittorrent system:

1) Install hamachi client.
2) Connect to the TorrentOf5punk network, PM me or berk or somebody for the super secret password.
3) Visit http://ham.clintserver.com:6969
4) Download the torrents you want and use your standard BT client to get the files.
5) Please seed files after you have downloaded them if you can.

Uploading files to the 5punk bittorrent system:

1) Make a torrent file using your BT client. uTorrent is particularly good.
2) The announce URL is http://ham.clintserver.com:6969/announce
3) Make sure you seed the torrent in your BT client or it wont work.
4) Register & Log-in on the tracker if you have not already done so at http://ham.clintserver.com:6969/signup.html
5) Upload the torent file at http://ham.clintserver.com:6969/upload.html

With bukkake doing a bit of seeding, and the rest of us chipping in also should make it reasonably fast as well as private.

*Ha ha

UPDATE!
To go hand in hand with the BT tracker, is this listing tool. You can it to find out what is avaliable, and ask for things.

As far as i know, anyone on the cumnet2 network should be able to access torrent of 5punk too (though i'm unsure)

Also, you may need to tell your torrent client to use your hamachi IP address, YMMV

fucking this! top work

just wondering, regarding requests and what you have for offer and such, are we going to have some new stickies on 5punk? a new index? or is this more hush hush than that?

It's up to wey more than anything as 5punk doesn't really need to be seen as a bunch of pirates.

keep it reasonably hush-hush until then.

(on the other hand, i'll certainly be able to cover and seed all the new CSIs as they appear ;) )

*Ahem*

We all know that we're not pirates here, but out of curiosity's sake everyone could maybe make a list of things they have in terms of games/films/tv shows/music etc so that everyone can see what other 5punkers have.

If we were a bunch of pirating bastards, then theoretically one would be able to see whats around on people's tables and request that it be dropped on the floor. Hypothetically speaking of course.

But as I said, just out of interest, it would be good to see what people have.

*Edited for shits'n'giggles*

I have quite the collection of games, too, plus most of the titles mentioned here.

I think Prof is now working on a database type thing for his page to let us list things without having to make torrents for it all, so we know what we can request from the things available.

I think this is an super idea :likesitall:

However, I don't think it's a good idea to have any kind of list on 5punk showing what you have or what is available.

Yeah, good point. The list will be available behind HamandCheese I believe, if and when prof gets something sorted.

*Tests a little too*

Unrelated to anything at all in this thread, anyone heard of Richard Cheese? I was in a bar the other night where a few punk rock covers of other music genres were played, but were then followed by this guy playing lounge music covers of rock and metal songs. Tis very funny.

The "unrelated" bit may* have been a lie. Have a look at the Prof's page.

in other news, be careful with utorrent, it appears to try to talk on all networks.

it's easy enough to fix.

go to

Code: Select all

options > Preferences > Advanced
Then find the lines called

net.bind_ip
net.outgoing_ip

and set the values for both to the IP of your hamachi connection.
