CS:S Economy Changes

Post by deject »

http://www.steampowered.com/Steam/Marke ... ssage/745/

rumor has it that they may make the M249 Para cheaper or something. I find it it interesting that they're changing the price of EVERY item in the game. Maybe they'll make the MAC10 cheaper too.

some of these just seem like a waste of time. I mean how is a $6 cheaper AWP going to have a real impact?

Code: Select all

At the start of a round, the default amount of money available for each player will remain $800.
/never plays C$$ again

They should just make it $800, so you only have the seven bullets.

typical of people to instantly focus on how bad this is for them, rather than thinking about the benefit on the community as a whole.

What benefits? Seriously, all it does is fuck the players.

When the only gun you personally use has its price increased disproportionately to the other weapons, it's hard not to feel picked-on.

I suppose it could have been worse - it only really matters for the first round, and they could have chosen to weaken the popular guns or make them less accurate.

If they continue to monitor games though I guess the price will drop down and even out, although I'm surprised the 'F1' weapons (autobuy) didn't get a larger price hike, given the supposed correlation with in-game purchases.

I'm finding it hard to see immediate benefits, noob cannons, spray-and-prays and kriegs/bullpups will appear earlier, whereas players who prefer guns you have to aim yourself will find themselves short on cash.

am i the only one who thinks this is a fucking great idea? personaly im sick of seeing colts and ak's exclusively on most servers, this way the more 'whored' guns will be made less attractive to buy (yet not unatainable) forcing a bit of variety into the game. lately ive been playing alot on those gungame servers for this very reason

i mean if you like the gun THAT much then surely you can wait till the next round...

I agree with you there, but there will be the old problem of the team that is loosing only being able to get glocks and mac-10s while the other team will get M4A1s and this will keep the teams winning/loosing.

not to mention, the results will all be skewed because most servers have some weapons blocked (like the autosnipers and the awp)

M4A1 will probably be given the biggest rise since its probably the best gun in the game. cant see it affecting life too much, all the guns are pretty useful if you know how to use them.
I've taken plenty of m4/ak people with the TMP headshot machine. And as for the autosniper all people who use that gun shud get a penis up the arse.

since everyone uses armour wont that go up stupid%?

My good mate Alfred sent me this:
Alfred wrote:We have released a special beta of Counter-Strike: Source for the new
dynamic weapon pricing feature. If you want to try out this new
functionality on your server then run the hldsupdatetool with
"cstrike_beta" as the game parameter, for example:

Win32:
./hldsupdatetool -command update -game cstrike_beta -dir .

Linux:
./steam -command update -game cstrike_beta -dir .

Yea, you probably got pissed off with all the muppets spamming the mailing list too. So I unsubscribed all but hlds_announce - only Valve will write to you, and only when it something us server people need to know. Spam free. 8)
