if its the rts one thats a sequel to soldiers:heroes of wwII, then i'm definatly gonna get it, cos i loved that game. twas a good game in co-op as well

Just finished the tutorials, so I thought I'd put down my initial thoughts:
It's similar to Dawn Of War in the way you control squads (not surprising, they're both by the same team).
It's not really revolutionary - you still build barracks, which infantry then come out of. I'd have liked to have seen reinforcements being brought to your HQ by truck.
The way infantry finds cover seems to work well. I saw one of my squads caught in the open by a machine gun though and they didn't take any casualties. I'd have liked a mistake like that to have caused some unpleasantness.
Conversely, the artillery caused me to exclaim "holy fuck!". It comes thudding down, causing big craters, and scattering bodies everywhere with its massive explosions. If artillery in BEEF was like this you wouldn't see friendlies running into it 'cos it's pretty scary.
The tanks are nice - they smash through walls and hedges and can take a pounding. They also have hit locations and a good hit can cause things like engine failure and even cause them to rampage out of control.
The terrain and buildings are pretty destructable. Take cover from an MG42 behind some wooden barrels and before long you'll be squatting behind a pile of matchsticks. Hit an MG in a window with a bazooka and it'll blow a big hole out of the wall and send the crew tumbling into the street.
Looking good then. Very cinematic, seems to flow nicely. The RTS formula remains mostly unchanged, but that's probably only a sticking point with people who (like me) like more realism.
