Dusty old content

I saw a post on another forum about someone admitting that they hate Warcraft because they did away with the old 40 man raids. Now I don't give a shit about big raids, but it did raise a thought with me. All the classic instances, and to a lesser extent all the TBC raids, are pretty much bypassed by anyone who didn't play them when they were end-content. Does this make them obsolete now? Nobody would team up for an old raid dungeon as they were levelling, and with not a lot in the way of rewards the only reason to run an old raid rather than one of the WotLK dungeons is for the achievement. So all this old content sits collecting dust, because everyone is in Northrend.
Do I have this right, or am I missing a reason why we could be doing the old content that most of us have never seen? If there isn't any reason to choose an old dungeon over one of the new ones, wouldn't it be worth Blizzard's effort to revamp them? Or have most people already done them to death, and only a few noobs like me are interested in them?

You're quite right Mr P, and it's an argument that's been going on for some time. For many old hands, the likes of Molten Core used to the the end game instance and was done to death so they never want to see it again. But for many of us we never got to see that content, let alone AQ40 and all the TBC raids which were really quite good.
It must be hard from Blizzard's point of view having all this all content sitting around taking up game real estate but doing nothing. For sure, they wheeled out Naxxramas the Second for the entry raid in WotLK, but it would be nice to have heroic modes for all the instances in game tuned for level 80 players.
It seems simple enough as well - beef up all the NPC's and just add badge drops and cash to the loot tables.

Well quite. I was wondering if there was maybe more, but I can't really think of what. There's enough content out there to pander to a few minorities, like the 40-man raid hankerers. So it makes me wonder why Blizzard don't make the small amount of effort. I can only really see two scenarios; they don't feel it would draw enough attention to make it worthtaking people off other projects for, or that the loudmouth fanboys have given them the impression that nobody wants it.

I was one of the fortunate million who cleared all vanilla and TBC raid instances. They're pretty good fun, you could do Karazhan, ZG and AQ20 with 5 70s, ZA with 5 80s, MC and BWL with 10 80s, AQ40, Gruul, Magtheridon, SSC and TK with 15 and Hyjal, BT, SWP with 20.
The reason is that WoWfags are mostly elitist fags, and they don't "waste their time" on "worthless" (virtually no loot for those who do it) old-world raids most of which require attunements, it's not that they're not worth doing, it's just that they're boring, lazy people.

A truer statement has not been made! There should be a third 'affiliation' for these people, and you should be able to turn them off at will! "What? No Fanboy spam in trade chat? No 'join my guild because we roxxorz' spam? WoW is FUN again! Thank you devs! All races could be cast into this affiliation by people that play the game well by simply moving anyone that has been 'blocked' by 100 people here automatically, and locking their ability to make alts. They could even have their own channel "We suck because we ROX!"

They took out the attunement requirements for the old stuff I believe.

I disagree, I am always seeing shouts go out for AQ40. MC, ZG etc. Thats how I managed to do them. GL in Kara and AQ20 with 5 70's though.

Yeah, I mistyped Kara there, it should be 5 80's, but AQ20 we did that with 5 (granted, we were in SSC gear, but come on, you get Hyjal++ green on Northrend at 71.)
Well, Kara is doable with maybe 7 (2 tanks, 2 healers, 3 CCs) skilled 70s up to Aran, and then it's also a free pass to the Chess Event.
