Max Payne: Old, Bearded
Rockstar drops the first hint about the next installment of the grandaddy of slo-mo man-shoots:
Do you like beards? What about scars? Blood? A possible hint of a shaven head? Oh, we could talk about this for hours.
Um.
Hmm.
No, that's it.Related stories:

Will rockstar be making this game?
Because in that case I don't like the sound of this...

Remedy sold the rights to make cash for Alan Wake apparently.
I love Max Payne games but I feel like they really completed his journey at the end of Max Payne 2. Still if they can do it right it should still be fun.

It's a terrible thing that Rockstar have made themselves a reputation for ridiculous bloatware and poor console ports after they made such a good name for themselves. Just goes to show how one bad decision can affect things, particularly when they should have known better.

I can't say I care much as I've never played a Max Payne game.
It looks like the Rockstar Hype Machine is being bought up to full power.

Go right now and buy them on Steam. They are two of the best shooters ever made. The noir style will be cheesy, but it's totally worth it.

The first one is pretty good as it's got that "home-made" kinda feel about it, all the characters are people that were in some way or another affiliated with the development team, which makes for interesting cut scenes.
I didn't like the second one as much but it's still a good shooter.

Aye, first one is really fun, moreso whence you patch it up to the latest just to crush a couple of odd bugs.
Great story and a handful of really *really* awesome levels.
And the Kung Fu mod available is just epic and most excellent, always worth a play.
The 2nd is ok, not special, but still a good game over all, the physics engine use is a bit forced in places as it was one of those to come out when proper physics was a new feature and not common place.

The first game had a nice story and setting, kind of noir, and the bullet time thing was original back then. It also had that psychadelic drug level, which is one of my favourite gaming moments. I didn't play the second.

Loved the first one, thought the second was a damp squib. Unless they introduce some sort of new dynamic to the third can't see how it will take off (other than hype) - as has been said, slo-mo old hat.

Paynnneee you freakin' Fed!
I thought the first one was great and the kung fu mod was winnar. Drugs bit does a very good job of fucking with the sense.
Played the second, enjoyed it but the wholesale face change sucked and some of the mona sax bits got tiresome.
Looks like Payne is doing a splinter cell. Getting all old and grizzly and such. Next thing it'll be a hueg packet of chewing gum floating around everywhere.
Also, what's going on with A. Wake? Seems a bit vapourware. Been deadly quiet for a while, I do hope remedy don't die out along with this game. They've got some great ideas.

Scrounged up a hardcopy of the first game, all legit like. Still has an 8 year old receipt from a now defunct retailer in the box.

I completed the first one, but lost my way early in the second one.

I'm a demon at patching. I was already patching before I put the CD in the drive.
I like it so far, done a couple of chapters. Obviously it looks a bit dated and MP looks like he's constipated, but the atmosphere is convincing.

He's cross because his tummy hurts.

He does actually change expression I think, I think he bares his teeth if you're firing off lots of ammo.
It's a good game though.

I think they made a joke about Max being constipated in the second game, but I can't really remember.

I think one of the best things in the first is the faux ragdoll system, whereby enemies cartwheel in the air away from explosions :D

one of the in-game TV shows is a sort of parody/dramatization of Max Payne 1. It's called Dick Justice, and one time he says "I have a permanent, constipated grimace on my face."

I knew I couldn't have been the first one to notice his expression, but I made the joke anyway.
