Sheriff demanded we at least try this.
I suspect it'll appeal to the swat players more than the beef players, but there you go
Will probably mirror it and stick a private server up at some point.

And no, I don't think this is 5punk moving away from beef, it's just nice to have other games where tactics and teamwork are needed, not just an occasional happening.
Edit: Mirror!

I tried it once, years ago. It was awful. I understand they've been working on it a lot though, so it's probably worth another shot.

Yup, I suspect the basis will remain the same - Pretty realistic gameplay etc.
But it's gotta be better than version 1.0 was

I totally failed the mission where you were supposed to remain undetected and gave up.
This after a concerted effort on my part not to shoot the drill instructor at the earliest opportunity. One can only imagine the stats the US Army have collected about me from this.

woohoo!
Passed all the training stuff (apart from SF E&E)
Stuff worth knowing:
To unlock the sniper training, you need 36 in the basic marksman training.
This has the answers for the SF and medic tests, it's dead easy if you pay attention, but i know you're lazy cunts
Use your brains for the MOUT mission, watch your fire and try to work quickly (use the M4 on single fire, don't fuck about with FBs)
Fortunately, afaik the E&E is kinda optional (it can limit what maps you're allowed to play on)

ooo-err, did I really demand people play this? I must have been more drunk than I remember last night
I suspect most people will have played it in some form or another by now and made their minds up about it.
I enjoyed playing it for a while, I have even got three accounts, all with SF enabled. If I can find the logins I am happy to lend them to anyone who wants to give it a try.

I remember trying this once a long time ago and not really caring for it.

Ive given it a go a couple of times, at various points in its development.
I can honestly say I would rather be told I can play nothing but the Sims for the rest of eternity than play Americas Army one more time.

Good plan, it took me ages to answer the ones where you have to recognise the vehicles - my exam paper would have looked like this:
1. A car
2. A helicopter
3. Another helicopter
4. A tank-like thing but not actually a tank

Passing the SF test allows you to play as a Special horses bloke (oddly enough). There are certain maps with the 'SF' prefix which are SF only, though a few allow you to join, just not play as SF.
IMO, they are some of the best maps in AA, but the real winnar is that you get to use the M4, which you can mod to your taste: adding different scopes, grenade and flare launchers, bipods and silencers.

I think I'll give this a miss after last time around, but if I get really bored I "might" give it a go, but it was a bit "too tactical" for my liking, and was dificult to play with random people on public servers.
If it gets a bit of a 5punk following though, I may give it a go, but personally for now I'll just stick to this

IIRC, B is just before a bridge, lit up by spotlights. To pass the guard tower on the other side of the bridge head off to the right before you get to the bridge (don't try to cross it) along the dry river bed. Follow the river bed right until you see a clump of bushes on your left, exit the river bed through these, at a guess I'd say it's about 50m.
