Basically, I keep destroying headphones after about 2-3 months, if that, of use.

More often then not the wire comes loose. probably because i keep putting them in my pocket, getting them out, wrapping them around the mp3 player etc.

Do you bros know of any that are highly durable?

Shure. Cheaper but okay are those gumi things, mediocre sound but quite survivable. I tend to buy cheap ones for travel and keep my nice set for bumming around the house with.

Don't coil the 'phones around anything, it nacks the wires and that nacks the quality. It takes time, but unplugging and packing them away when it's not in use saves them too.

I dont have stupid audiophile ears, but who actually does? And anyway, spending 100x the price for 1% quality difference - doesn't make sense to me.

I've got some nice Sennheisers. They were quite cheap, but that's fine for me since my earphone quality check is boolean:

It's very, very rarely that bad, very worst you'll get to 10x-15x the price, from decent to outstanding, but you'll hear a significant difference, assuming you're not listening to shitty mp3s (protip:192k is minimum if you have a soul) I also don't have anything like audiophile ears, but I can appreciate the quality of the noise going into my head.

Course, as they're in ear things, you don't really need to spend too much for something decent enough. £30 should be plenty.

Best in ear monitors I've used, outside of the top two Shures, especially if you perform the Kramer mod on them. They're mildly indistructable, and so cheap that if they do break, it's not exactly awful.

You can probably get them cheaper elsewhere, too.

I've got a set of some Sony's. They were about £25 quid about 3/4 years ago, I use them most days and they're doing fine. Sound is alright as well.

Yeah the problem with really good headphones is that you need really good audio source for it to be worth the money. If you're listening to 192k MP3s, I would not spend more than $40-50 (£20-30) on headphones. More than that and you will curse your decision because you'll hear the artifacting of the MP3 with incredible accuracy.

Well, on the assumption they're going to be used for travelling, unless you get noiseless ones (which make some people feel seasick), source quality isn't a major issue as you'll still have outside sounds permeating in.

That is what I love about the Shure-type earphones, when you get a good seal the outside world will be shut out entirely.

Yes it is dangerous if you're out and about walking in traffic but if you're on a plane or a train or riding in a car/bus it's great.

Both seem good for the cash, amazon seems to have been the cheapest I've found them.
