LAN Party

Would anyone else be interested in a UK-based LAN party for playing Counter-Strike: Source and UT2004?
I can't host (not enough space) so we'd be looking for a Dutch millionairess to donate the use of her private UK estate (and helicopter) for the purposes of this endeavour.
So, who's up for this if it goes ahead? Is anyone here a very rich Dutch lady? Failing that, is anyone able to host a LAN party?
Please submit answers into the poll, but also discuss meaningfully below.

my other considerations as far as this shite goes, is possibly aranging a lock-in at a friendly gaming cafe.
or a fuckload of us heading to a proper lan party and raising hell?
other thing to remember would be that it's be a bastard to transport CRT monitors anywhere really without the power of infernal combustion.

Yes. I like the lock-in idea, as that might present a solution to the infernal combustion problem.

indeed, would also allow those without the leets/sturdy arms to use a crappy caff machine.

hmmmmm, lugging about my HP xw6000 desktop, and my 21" Iiyama monitor across a city centre somewhere doesn't sound too promising.
However, there is a rather good gaming shop in Bristol city centre that hosts LAN parties, allthough I have yet to use them myself.
All depends on dates, and whether people can travel around or not I suppose.
Are we talking about a night on the beers as well or not? :D
I think we need to sort out the geographics of this before people will be able to say yes or no, so I'll start and say........
I live in Bristol, and providing it's not too far away, I'd be up for it.

yeah
i'm in leicester, can travel with machine pretty easily, and at a push, a 15" tft is to hand, but that starts getting silly.
as far as the booxing, that mostly comes down to location, and if at a caff, their policies on such shit.

I'm not able to lug a machine due to sizeness unless I can encourage someone to give me a lift there and back.
I'm in North Wales, but shouldn't have a problem attending at a gaming caf? anywhere in England or Wales.
Booze is a no-no with me, but I don't mind other people having it.

Sounds like a laugh, but not much chance of me transporting my hefty machine outside of the London area, cafe idea sounds ok, depending on cost.

Well, some friends of mine organise a big LAN party near here (Slough infact, but its not too bad)
they hire out a massive hall, generally there is around 60+ people there from various places, it lasts a weekend, involves lots and lots of booze, fast food and gaming and is fantastic fun
http://www.lawlan.net/ if you want to see anything from past ones.
It would be fantastic to have our own little corner of 5punk

Sounds interesting, but transport could be an issue for me if I have to drag my machine down, but fortunately my brother lives in Slough, so I might be able to work something out.

Well, im not sure when the next one is. They happen usually twice a year, my friend organises it so I will speak to him and see when the next one is planned.

If someone wants to fly me over or put up with me for a few days I may be game
I'd have to take a little while to get prepared to go though... (passport, etc). And it would all depend on when it was going down

hehe, well as for crashing space, people usually just sleep on the floor there (they usually put out big mat things over the floor at one end of the hall) and there are actually showers and stuff at the venue.
Also last time, a company was there who did pcs for hire for those unable to bring them.
Im really pimping this idea arnt I?

Actually, yes. I'm interested.
