Sony's DualShock 3 controller hacked to work in Windows

You're in luck, so long as you're not terrified of branching out a bit and loading up some new drivers on your rig. A Japanese coder has whipped up four drivers that not only enable Sony DualShock 3 controllers to operate within Windows, but also support rumble and enable all sorts of tweaking. Good that he even got the rumble working.

I can't get on with the ps controllers, too small for me. I find the 360 controllers a tad small too, my favourite controller was the old super size xbrick one, stopped nasty finger cramps in my ape like paws.

Is that for the 360? Equal measures of awesome and hideous make me want to buy one.

PS2. Was supposed to be for FPS games. £8 on Amazon.

I quite like the PS3 controller but I do think the 360 has the perfect layout and feel.

The only problem with it is the shoddy d-pad.

I still prefer the old proper Xbox 1 pads, that's why I've got 4 of the huge ones

really? i fucking hate the 360 controllers, it's like a failed lovechild of a N64 controller and a playstation controller, too many bootons on weird places.

Yeah, well, the shoulder buttons could do with being the same as the PS3 but thats only a minor complaint. The d-pad is a bigger issue really.

On the other hand, I loathed the gamecube controller! Now that was button madness!

I didn't mind it, but it's low on my list. N64 was a good size, bit weird and it wore a hole in my thumb more than once.

I've found that the 360 buttans generally land underneath one or more digits without any effort. The d-pad is a bit crap like tezz said, but I don't use it overmuch in games. Not that I've played anything except dvds on my 360 in about a year.

you did have to get used to them, true, but damn they were comfortable, most other controllers make my hands hurt after playing them for a while.

I couldn't reach the black and white buttons on either XBox controller without some pain, I'm glad they've gone. I don't like the start/select buttons on anything, really.

For some reason this discussion prompted me to buy the Res Evil chainsaw and Dragon Quest slime PS2 controllers from Amazon.

I prefer the 360 shoulder buttons. The triggers feel better as analogue switches for driving games and triggers for FPS's are just nice. But yes, the d-pad is maybe the worst of all mainstream controllers ever.

Haha awesome, always liked the idea of playing games with a plastic chainsaw. About the only thing that would make me want to play Theme park world again.

One type of controller I've been missing of late is the lightgun. What, are the current generation of consoles too cool for plastic guns or something? Well, appart from the Wii of course, Nintendo just don't want to grow up it seems.

There was one released recently for Time Crisis 4 on the PS3. Theres some sort of problem though that prevents light guns working with HDTV's, so they now require a Wii-like sensor bar.

Aaah I see, will have to grab that for my bro's pstripple then. Always loved that series.
