WoW - Dungeons

Right, I'd like us to do some dungeons, I know it might be like herding cats but I've had a bit of an idea - put down your 'wants' below and we can then 5chedule them for whenever we're all available. I'll maintain a list below (with recommended levels) and put links to the wowwiki articles for each one. Don't worry if it's low-level, put it down anyway and we'll do it, they're always good for loot.

Dungeons to do:
Halls of Lightning (79-80)
Oculus (80)

I'm probably a week off 80, but I'm up for a few dungeons once I have time. I've no objection at all to running lower level ones either as an alt or just boosting, for those of us who need it.

I'll do anything, but you'll have to give me a fucking outstanding reason to do toilet. :P

Occulus is a fun instance, since a lot of the time you will be riding a drake. Halls of lightning can be a pain though, especially on heroic mode the last boss is a pillock if you have a group who are slow at moving...

Not dungeons as such, but the pit fights in Grizzly Hills are nice little three-man group quests that bring in about 16g each. I got to the fourth fight with a couple of randoms. They're bloody tough, but with a bit of organisation (even our level) they'd be quite fun. I'd like to finish them at any rate (but not be the tank this time kthx).

I didn't mind it, did it for fun and the cookie with my 60, shame I can't boost my own L20 druid through it.

I think I missed everything between Shadowfang when Friz boosted us and Hellfire/Coilfang that a few of us did a last month, apart from Zul'Farrak and that Sunken Temple one that we did earlier in the year.

Have done Deadmines and a few others for cookies and fun and FJ has the Scholomance key (not that you need it, I was just doing the epic warlock quest before they made it unnecessary), Shadowfang is good for farming wool, Scarlet Monastery for silk, etc.

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and 5chedule Halls of Lightning for this Saturday. Anyone who is interested poke your nose in there.

Halls of Lightning: fail.

However, we managed to get Utgarde Keep and Nexus done with two 71s and three 80s. Even I got a nice new (and fancy looking) weapon, and I think most of us found it worthwhile.

Also, anyone needing a boost don't be scared to ask. We still get the achievement from low level dungeons and if it helps people catch up then all the better.

Very this, it doesn't take long to boost someone, and it can be very handy

Very this. The quest rewards were damn shiny, and some of the drops were rather spiffing too (not that I actually got anything worthwhile mind).

Now guard and shit is sorted I'm gonna start playing again. Still sat at 32 in Dog where I've been relaxing since November. I was waiting for Davius to catch up with his alt but he has gone awol for a bit.

One of the big negatives I originally had about Warcraft was that it was so hard to keep on a level with a friend (or group of friends). I still think it is, but since I now know you can solo to 80 as most classes I don't think it's as important.

HoL is notoriously hard, even on normal mode. Once you have some of the strats down pat it gets easier, but it's a good prep for the coord fights in Naxx. Keep going at it, it's worth the effort. And I'm sorry I wasn't around to help out last night, but hopefully next time I can come lend a hand.

Probably best we didn't do HoL then, especially since there'd have only been three of us. It was actually this afternoon we (Wiggy, Berk, Joose, Roman and I) dit the aforementioned two, and nothing we did changed my opinion that the harder, more organised dungeons are out of the realms of our cat-herding style. Possibly once we've a good few 80s and we're used to playing together, as we did manage some good teamwork in CoH.

"Get 'im", probably isn't the best tactic to live by.

How is the following in any way difficult :?

Tank pulls mob
Healer heals tank
DPS hits mob until death
Rince/repeat

I'm just going on my PVE dungeon experience in war here, but that's usually about it. Occasionally though the devs really throw a hard one at us and put cone damage on the mob, requiring the tank to rotate the mob 90 degrees. :bored:

Now you're making assumptions, and they're not working.

Due to the nature of 5punkers in wow, we're all pretty much jack of all trades, that is, specced towards mostly surviving/killing while playing solo.

So we had 3 death knights, all DPS, a Pally specced mostly for DPS, and a shaman, as far as I can tell, specced for DPS.

So, the tank couldn't pull, the healer couldn't heal, and the DPSs had to do all the work.

That's not the half of it. One person died while we were trying to find the door.
