What I'm thinking of for the computer I'm going to build in about a week:
Intel Core i7 920
GTX280 (which I already have - I was originally planning on something cheaper than this, but then lee told me of an offer ocuk were doing where they basically cut a hundred quid off the normal price which put it at the same price as the other stuff I was looking at anyway, so I snatched one up)
6gb of some kind of ram (seems like overkill, but if I get an i7 and a socket 1366 motherboard then why not get some nice trippley channel stuff)
Samsung 1TB harddrive
and the other bits and bobs needed
And I'll finally make the move over to fista, at least until windows 7 is properly out

Any suggestions on bits (especially for a case)?

all sounds good.

Cases, all depends what you want, and how much money you have. something like an antec 900 is cheap as fuck, pretty ugly and pretty cramped.

For more money, I like lian li stuff, they're pretty plain looking, but nicely built and lots of aluminium, which is good.

Silverstone do nice things too, but again, pretty spendy.
