Move and stuff

If you don't see me around much, it's because we are in the middle of packing stuff up at our current home, ready to move into our new house in (hopefully) the next couple of weeks providing everything goes okay.

Obviously all things 5punky wise are likely to be dropped during this phase, so if you could contact either Dog Pants or Stoat in my absense, I'm sure they can deal with anything I can (and then some!)

I'll still be reading when I get chance, but I won't be very active on either the forum or playing games till I get setup again.

I'm also likely to be without teh internets for a while too, but I'll let you know I'm alive by posting at work, or else I'm sure you will all be losing sleep

On a slightly related note, does anyone know of a decent place to get a nice big PC desk. I'd like a wide one instead of the all in one unit type jobbies that everyone seems to sale nowadays, as I have the room for it.
I plan on having my 24" TFT, PC, Xbox, PSOne, Dreamcast, and a multitude of USB devices and power chargers all located on the desk somehow.
It pisses me off havign to keep getting cables in and out of boxes/drawers to charge stuff, so I want to have it all in one place, so a tiered desk, or lots of cupboards/doors would eb great.
Suprisingly dificult to find anything that would accomodate all of it narf.

How odd, Im going to be doing the exact same thing in a week or so. Moving house is fun fun fun, isnt it?

On the one hand: Boo, I shall now have to pay for things such as interweb access and telly licences.

On the other hand: I shall no longer be living with my parents. These last two months have been loooooong.

Good luck with the move! And you, Joose!

Desk-wise: I got my desk from Staples, I think. It's mahoosive.

It's a garage (side on view) that backs onto the lane behind our house.
No chance of me getting the PT Cruiser in there, maybe the Fiesta, but we plan on knocking the front wall down, and brick paving all of it to get up to 3 cars parked infront of the house.

Whilst I am loathed to recommend OCUK for anything, a post in their Home Cinema forum might be an idea. There are some very knowledgable types in there who have done a lot of work on 'puter rooms and what not.

Well, just to jump on the bandwagon, I'm moving again in a week, for the second time in as many months! Yay, and at the same time, boo. Its a complicated story, but it will end in goodness for me.

My current computer desk is the missus' parents' old dining table, so it has length and girth in abundance.

However, good luck with the move everybody!

House looks nice WEY, good catch.

As much as I hate to recommend Ikea as it's fucking hell to shop there; I have a rather spacious desk from there. The Jerker has done me good for a few years and now you can even get another shelf to go with it, which I'm considering. This is how it looks in action. You could get quite a lot of stuff on it, especially if you get the extra shelf as well. No draws though but you can get unit to go underneath.

My slab of wood + legs was from ikea, cheap as chips, no shelfage though

I have about 1.6m of worktop like berk used that I don't need if there are any other DIY enthusiasts.

Hmmm, I assume simple L shaped brackets and lengths of wood can suffice for fixing the legs?
Also, that would look sexy if the legs were spray painted black and laquered up.

Might be nigh on impossible shipping that though Fatherjack, but thanks for the offer, I think I might look into making one up.
Never made anything from scratch before, so it would be ace if I could make it myself and be proud of my "creation".

i'll get some photos of below my desk, it's a fucking huge thing, and held a pair of plasterers easy enough.

the fuckoff bolt things are used to hold the various bits of worktop together.

legs are wardrobe rail things.

mounty lumps of wood look about 1/2" x 3"
