OK I is confusulated... why is it that on GameTap I can play TombRaider Legends... which I am enjoying immensely, for free, yet on Steam they want to charge me $19.99???
Whats the catch with GameTap?? So far I haven't seen any... do you know different??

GameTap has a monthly fee, so to keep playing it you have to keep paying. As long as they keep the new games coming.
With Steam, you buy it and you're done, it's yours for as long as Steam exists.

Nope... Tomb Raider is one of the Free Games, other games available if you go Gold, but Legends, Mr Robot and Psychonauts are all free but chargeable on Steam... just wondering how and why?

Advertising mostly.
Apparently you have to sit through an advert before you play, I've never used it, but it seems to be their model, also, get you hooked on freebies to make you pay.

There are supposed to be Adverts but i have never seen any... the game always starts before the advert begins..
I'll continue to use it then if there is nothing iffy going on, Tomb Raider Legends isn't the kind of game that i would want to play again and again once completed so its a win/win situation for me at the moment.
Now if they would only release L4D and Cod4...

It's kinda like sexbox live. You pay, you can play, but it's still evil.
