I've broken the internet

I have a wee problem. After doing a fresh install a few days ago my back button has had a bit of a spaz. Whenever I use the back button on my mouse or browser, for some reason, it "stops" the action (I say "stops" because this is what it says in the browser action bar at the bottom).

The page loads, but in a flash it pops back to the page I was going "back" from. I've tried re-installing Firefox and had a poke about in my internet options but have had no luck. IE has the same problem, so I'm assuming it's a system issue, rather than an application issue but I am completely stumped; I have no idea where to start looking.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Very odd.

Got any jam?

has it been doing it since the reinstall, or did it break after? (that is, OS issue, or driver/update issue)

Condiments have been applied, without sucess.

It seems to be a recent problem. I considered it might be an issue with recently installed stuff, however, the only thing I have installed since the b0rkage has been Vampire: The Masquerade+unofficial patches. It could be something in there but I very much doubt it.

If you have system restore enabled, try rolling back a bit?

Aye, that would be sensible. Being un-sensible, however, I disabled it :shakefist:

either start uninstalling stuff, or perhaps try sfc /scannow (you'll have to patch windows after this, it repairs stuff back to your original off the CD versions)

It's not just your browser, you're stopping the entire internet!

Back button now works but my Logitech keyboard has thrown a track. I'm blaming this shitty mobo. I knew this was a bad idea :x

Hmm, Possible IRQ conflict?

very unlikely with a keyboard, usb/ps2 really shouldn't care about that stuff.

I'd suggest plugging it into another set of usb sockets for a start, that'll often clear oddities up.

Tried different ports, no joy. I'm using a PS2 kb now. I guess something in SP 3 doesn't like my Logitech.

See a doctor

It's not security settings too high or anything silly like that is it? Dunno if Firefox prevents using the back buttons or something?

/random guess

Seems odd, made sure you're using all available up to date drivers?

if you're still on the berk slipstream, all the drivers will be well out of date by now.
