The Barber of Seville

I think this is a first on 5punk... an opera review! (and I don't mean the invasive browser)

The Barber of Seville as done by the Welsh National Opera:

Went to see it last night in Oxford and it was magnificent! They had translated it from French (I think) into English so it was easy enough to follow what was going on and it was very very funny. All of the parts were very well played and the music and singing was incredible. It's the first opera I've been and it has set the bar very high! If you are even vaguely interested in classic music and the like and frankly, even if you're not, go and see this if you can :likesitall:

lol wot, culchure???!!??

I'd quite like to try opera. I'm rather fond of classical music (it's the only radio I listen to in the car). Never been to one. I might try and persuede one of the girlies.

Ballet can fuck right off though.

:above:

opera seems rather enjoyable, i'm indifferent towards ballet, but the day i'm willingly going to see a musical is the day the daily mail starts writing the truth.

There's a War of the Worlds musical, with massive fighting machine. Mrs Pants was going to get tickets for us. That I'd watch.

Anything goes is a suprisingly entertaining musical. Although it may have been mainly due to the priest in Father Ted who never stops laughing having the part of the #2 most wanted.
Or possibly the girl with big boobs. Yeah i'll go with boobs.

They aren't coming to the uncultured north it would seem. Nildram, I'd probably like to make a road-trip out of it anyway.
