Logitech Ships Billionth Mouse
Logitech today announced that it has shipped its billionth mouse. A pioneer in the development of the computer mouse in the 1980s, Logitech has enthusiastically driven nearly every major innovation in mouse technology – persistently refining this ubiquitous interface between people and their digital experiences. With more than a billion people currently using computers worldwide and another billion expected to begin using computers by 2014, according to a report by analyst firm Gartner, Logitech continues to pursue compelling innovation to delight users of the next billion mice and input devices of the future.

Speaking of mices. My mx518 is becoming very tarred up with finger goo, middle button is fucked at the moment. Anyone successfully prised one apart to clean? I can't even see screws.

Screws are under the pads. Just use a scalpel/fine knife and be very gentle when lifting them off (or steam them if you're brave).
Just make sure you don't crease the pads or stick them on to something else accidently.
Quick blat around the interwebs reveals you need to be careful as a spring is prone to popping out.

I disassembled my Razor Copperhead this summer, was quite simple.

The screws on my 518 are under the labels at the front and rear, none under the pads
You can't see them but some gentle poking should reveal their location (twss)

G5 with the huge pads have the screws under the pads.
all the other mx510 body mice have 2 at the front, and one at the back, should be under/near the +s on the stickers.
note: I've taken about 6 of these apart about 30 times, they're pretty much idiot proof, should only need the 3 main screws out to fix the middle button.

The G5 is a very good mouse. I enjoy mine thoroughly.

I like my G5, but I don't go so far as to enjoy it thoroughly. I've had to take it apart for cleaning once already, from just regular enjoyment.

I've gone back to MS Intellimouses, I quite like the one I'm using at uni.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my Razer Copperhead but...well...after the fact I've had to repair it after only 18 months use due to the plastic above the left microswitch getting worn, I think I'll be buying another MS mouse once it completely dies (or I can't be arsed to bodge it again) as it took 4 years for the last one to die, and that was from overuse (same thing as the Razer methinks, plastic probably deformed). Even though after 2 years in my cupboard it did refuse to completely work, so I binned it as I couldn't be arsed to go fault finding but I think I'd dropped it during a clean out, so was probably a loose wire inside.

I have a MS Intellimouse Explorer at work and it's pretty good, but somehow the MX510 I have at home feels better for gaming.

MS mice are pretty nice, but IMO you can't beat a MX510/MX518/G5 for gaming.

I've had way more MS mice than I have Logitech ones, but that's because the Logitech ones are more comfortable for everyday gaming/surfing use and last longer.

I have a
strange vertical mouse due to my wrists having the aids. It's actually much more comfortable and accurate than the logitech G5 I had before it. Works fine in games too.
Wrists are still broken though, have been for about 6 months and I dunno how to fix them, can't take a long term break from the computer either thanks to my computer science degree

I'm another logitech fan
right from the pilot+ through mx310, mx510 then G7.
My G7 developed a problem with a duff micro switch, but it was under warranty.
Issue is they dont make the G7 anymore, and dont seem to make any wireless gaming mice anymore
i could choose a G9 or an MX revolution.
I chose the revolution, but didn't like it as much and ended up buying another G7 on ebay, which I now plan to take it with me to my grave.

Is it heavy?

Nope, it's a little bit heavier than the G5 but it has good quality slidey feet like the G5 does. I barely have to move it anyway since it's 2600dpi.
