I tend to work on the general rule of, if you don't know them, and none of us do, fucking run.

That's what I do, but I'd prefer to do less running and more killing. So, if i can recognize the Friends and Foes better...the more isk!

On that note I'm gonna edit my first post and keep a list of Friends/Foes that come thru.

Ask a stupid question, but you do know about the Alliance Standings page in the Corp/Alliance tab? Kinda does all this for you. I keep it open but minimised at all times for quick reference. If the target is not on the list, they are neutral and therefore you should run and hide, unless you know them to be ISS friendly or NRDS.

Perhaps a list of NRDS/True neutral to ISS here would be more useful...for example:

CHIMP
Axiom

^what Friz says

Keep the corp tab open (that way you can sort it alphabetically aswell, a rather frustrating trait that it seeems to be randomly ordered when you first open it) and minimised so you can flip it up and check any new locals.

-5/-10 run
0 run unless you know they're OK. Ask in alliance/Marge channel for a reference but then don't trust it coz they're all numpties anyway
+5 should be OK, but NAPS do get broken
+10 pass out hugs to all

The confusing ones are the neutrals, which is actually a lot of alliances/corps atm since the birthday standings reset, so a list of neutral corps and their known stance (hostile/friendly) towards ISS would be helpful.

Yeps, I keep it minimized also. I just wanted a quick reference of the "normal" traffic around that route. Might not be helpful to "veteran" 0.0 pilots, but for me and maybe other newcomers, it helps me remember who's who quicker.

The "Friendly" List is NRDS/True Neutral if I understand it correctly.

Edited the List to seperate the FRIENDS from the NRDS/True Neutral

I'll fix the FRIENDS when I get back in game...dont know offhand.

Understood. Better to put Friendly, NAP, 'Not Red Don't Shoot' (NRDS), True Neutrals in one list, and Competitors lumped in with the Enemies/'Not Blue Shoot It' (NBSI): many of our current competitors were -10 until the recent standings reset.

I think i got it set up good now. As far as the NBSI goes, being in ISS we're neutral and not allowed to shoot 1st, correct?

Correct. NBSI is the policy that most people adopt in 0.0 In other words, unless your standings are set as Blue (greater than 0) to that alliance then you are fair game. Some, like ISS, consider themselves neutral and operate on a NRDS - don't kill anything that hasn't had standing set to less than 5. In ISS we use -5 as a warning to be wary. They are not Kill on Sight (KOS) but they are very likely to shoot at you. There are a few ISS tolerant alliances out there that won't shoot us despite neutral standings (i.e show white on the overview) - Axiom for example.

Last night...the Fleet Commander said that Neutral Noobs are KOS. Noobs meaning that they are in their starting noobie corp and never switched to a npc/pc corp. They are considered as scouts and are KOS.

yeeeeaaaah, well there's some interpretation there M

noob corp alts are KOS, this seems to be accepted even if it's not written down (I recall a forum post from count/Serenity about it but it's not on the charter afaik). However, it does not necessarily follow that anyone in a noob corp is an alt. Many players stay "independent", never leaving their noob corps.

A more accurate (but still not foolproof) way of checking a character out for altiness is to look at their standings. If they have +10.0 to one agent and no other standings, they are 99.9% alty who has only ever finished the tutorial and nothing else.

Shooting noob corp characters out of hand is, imo, a bad habit that ISS has gotten itself into.

*Casts thread resurrect*

This is actually quite a useful tool methinks. Given the current state of POS mechanics and the fact that they don't reat to Alliance standings, it's probably a good idea to keep track of the regular hostiles passing through W9 and set corp standings accordingly. It's too much effort trying to track Alliance standings across the board (and they need updating incidentally)

The alternative method is to set the towers to shoot neutrals and below and be more selective about who we let in by setting them to +2. AFAIK this should not effect Alliance people since that's a separate setting...? And besides, the only regular visitor currently is ISSL and they're +10 anyway.

Thoughts?
