Man, I'm totally stealing this story from videogaming247. Hell, I've even stole the image from videogaming247. But at least I've given a working link back Warcry, who covered the press conference where the following was revealed...

When asked to expand upon a button found by sifting through the Lich King beta's data files named "Paid Character Customization," Brack initially hesitated to give any answer at all. Several questions later, he went back to the matter, saying that he could, in fact, confirm that World of Warcraft would eventually have some form of paid character customization, though they themselves hadn't yet worked out any details.
C'mon Pat! It's Monday morning, but us parasitisic linkbloggers must have standards, goddammit. Related stories: Posted by KieronGillen. |

Seriously, pay-for-customisation is only suitable for play-for-free games. Noone's hardcore enough to pay trillions of monies every month for subscription, quadrillions of monies every year for expansions AND buy a shiny willy-shaped hat on top of all that for quintrillions of monies.

Surely it'd have to be some fairly major customisation for people to pay for them, or perhaps I am underestimating the average wow player's stupidity.

I do think Warcraft players will pay for it though. Who can blame Blizzard for cashing in on their fanboyism? I'd do it.

It's pretty proven, they certainly got people to buy the CoH wedding costume set.

But then CoH is considerably more creative than wow costume wise, so we'll see.

I believe the customisation will be for those who made their character look fugly in character creation and wanted to change it. Of course people will be pay, because we all know that the first priority is to look good!

That's assuming you can wear a helmet, which my main can't. But he's not ugly, just a bit poofy looking.

I'm assuming my class can't wear the type of headgear that covers the face, hence can't hide the ugly. I could be wrong but I've not seen anything like it for the more squishy class yet.
