Just wondering if any of you could recomend a decent sound card for me? Not really looking to spend too much but can prob afford to go upto about £100. Could do with a new headset as well but not in any great rush. Cheers in advance :)

I've got an AWE 32 you can have.
You have an ISA slot, right?

don't know about the soundcard, but i have a pair of sennheiser headphones, wich is not cheap but bloody great. I do recommend putting some tape on the cable where it is connected to the headphones and by the outlet though, very flimsy cables. they sell for around £50 i believe, but some places sell them cheaper.

Get an Audigy 2 of ebay for cheapness, or buy one of the lower X-Fi cards.

PCG recommend the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer for £60. Add the PC 161 headphones for £42 and you're just about on budget. Both are their mid range recommendations.

I think that's pretty normal, short of in-ear, or bigass open cans, it's unavoidable.

Sorry to do this boys but my budget has gone up a wee bit after a very good nite at the dogs, limit is now about 200 notes. Am looking at the new Sennheiser pc 350 head set, the soundcard im now looking for can come upto or over about the 100 quid mark, I welcome any suggestions :)

I'd still go with those recommendations then spend the other £100 on the lash (if I was a singly).

I'd keep the same soundcard (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer) they're pretty well known and reliable.

Those Senny pc350s look pretty nice, otherwise my standard suggestion is Beyerdynamic DT234 Pros, which a few 5punkers use/used.

Cans are a personal thing, depends what fits your head well and such, so they're not that easy to recommend.

I wouldn't try to spend £200 unless you really want to make the jump to really nice sound hardware over a few steps, and to be honest, for gaming a lot of high end stuff is wasted.

Any advice for someone on a slightly more limited budget?
If the jump in quality is too high I'll just grab the Extreme Gamer, but thought I should ask here beforehand.

xtreme gamer oem? that'll save you a tenner or so.

otherwise, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =SC-049-CL might work, no idea of quality etc.
