It's going to be the best RTS made by anyone ever. All the cool kids are going to buy it.

Looks to me like:

Start base
Gather resources
Race to build big army
Attack enemy
Realise enemy has bigger army
Get annihilated
Rinse, Wash, Repeat

Isn't that the formula for any RTS? The only times I've enjoyed RTSs (with the exception of Starcraft and Warcraft III) is when the resource bit has been taken to an extreme. Ground Control was good because there was no resource management, and TA had so much resource that it wasn't a major issue. In both cases you could concentrate on your tactics rather than trying to protect shitty little harvesters and worrying about how much money you were making. With TA I found that playing against another human it was a game of scissor-paper-stones as we each tried to throw something against the other guy's defences that could break it - massive hordes of vehicles, individual but huge robots, volleys of nuclear missiles, amphibious assaults with swimming tanks, it goes on and on.

bah, you don't know what's what! Have you seen the giant spiderbots? the sheer size of the maps?

I've seen a 4 min clip of one big army being eliminated by another slightly larger army.

And from what I gather Dog Pants, this is the format for most RTS games, and is the reason I can't be bothered with them. I used to like them quite a lot, but the sheer repetitivness of single player games and the boredom of repeatedly losing multiplayer ones by such large margins means I doubt I'll be splashing out on this one.

I'll save my monies for :ahoy:

I think you missed my point. I was agreeing with you that what you said was how most RTSs worked. Personally I don't like many of them either for exactly the reasons you said up there :above: , but the point I was making was that there are a couple that break away from it - such as GC and TA - and so I enjoy those. If you don't like any RTSs at all though then you'd probably be right to save your money.

I know you were agreeing with me, and I didn't mean to sound like quite such an arse, so sorries!

Never played/heard of GC or TA though, so can't really comment. My RTS experience is limited to the C&C games, mostly the earlier ones, and Warcraft, but others I've seen have varied little from these.
