Command & Conquer: Generals/Zero Hour - PC

Command & Conquer: Generals/Zero Hour - PC

Right first review for all those who Havent played C&C Generals.

The Start

When you first start Generals your first greeted by the usual EA Games slogon and also there girly voices, .. but when you start the intro video you realise just what you've got yourself in for.

America Campaign

Basically this is the easiest of the 3 Campaigns, in which you control America's army towards victory against the GLA, you eventually fight them back to their homeland.

GLA Campaign

Begin by collecting supplys and wiping out an American Airbase, however one mission is just literally running riot, fight your way until you capture a Russian Cosmodrone.

China Campaign

Start with last remaining survivours of a Nuclear Terrorist Attack on Beijing and lead the massive chinese army towards Kazakstan, however the missions are not easy.

Superweapons:

These come in 3 types:

Particle Cannon
Scud Storm
Nuclear missle

Out of the 3 the Nuclear missile is quite powerful, nearly wiping a base with a well aimed shot, however the fallout from it lingers quite a while.

The GLA's Scud storm is a nasty piece of work if your an infantry General, it's toxic cloud lingers for quite a while and destroys infantry in seconds.

America's Particle Cannon, this is basically a sattalite with a mirror, burns well and keeps on burning afterwards.

Tanks are closely based on C&C RA2, in which the Soviets had the Apocalypse tank, the Chinese have the overlord tank, etc etc, it's all fine until you get the massive hordes of overlords.

Many units are available for the GLA including a suicide bomber (what joy they are ... not), the idea behind the GLA is numbers and fast.

The specifications required to run Generals are:

OS: 98/2000/ME/XP
Processor: 800 MHZ
Memory: 128mb RAM
Hard Drive: 3.2GB
GC: 32mb

So most modern computers will run this game flawlessly.

Conclusion
In all i would recommend this game, only downside is that you don't get any naval units to build.

That is all.

Nice review, I just can't get on with Strategy games, but the only Strategy game I did get on with was C&C on the PS1.

Can the formatting fairy's have a look at the review, and ask the lovely new person for a score out of 10? 8)

Made some changes.

Night_Raven can you amend the stars to reflect your opinion of the game or remove them if you don't want to give a score out of 10. I put a random score in there for you so you have the formatting easily available to you.

I would have given it that score anyway, just because it lacks so many units that made the previous C&C games that much more enjoyable.

I could do, just where would i start without giving away much of the plot behind the game?

I think you dropped this: ?

but I agree none the less, the plot is badly told, predictible, generally rubbish and kinda un-neccasary.

You can kinda make one out of it, .. but unlike the previous C&C Games, the storyline is badly told, unlike Zero Hour which does like a news thingy which allows you to figure out whats going on, .. especially the last mission for the Chinese on ZH.

But hey, could be done with alot more improvements.
