BF:V was the crappiest game ever. FACT.

I would like to try the old beef games to see how the new one compares, out of curiosity. I never played them. But playing online would probably mean buying a copy, unless anyone knows different?

I rather liked the demo of BF1945 I played, so I bought BF:V because it was the newest one. I didn't get on with it much though even though I was usually in the top three players (a rarity for me). The city maps were quite good, and the Vietnam-style rock and roll music you could have blaring out of your vehicle (including scooters) was a nice touch. I just hated the jungle maps that most of the game consisted of.

the only reason i would personally buy BF1942 is desert combat.

which is pretty much what BF2 is, especially given dice bought trauma (who made desert combat)

BF1942 was fantactic at LAN's. I still remember when they released the demo with Wake island, we went to a LAN in Daventry and literally just played the demo the whole day. Great stuff.

The thing with it, if you played online it was generally a very frustrating thing. If you fancied flying a chopper or plane, the chances of you getting off the ground without a team mate shooting you down, was very slim. That's one reason why ranked servers are a godsend. Generally people don't want to lose the points incurred for a TK or team vehicle damage. If they'd just made all servers report back scores like UT2004 (I think?) then it would have been ideal :)

This, hard.

I loved BF1942 and i'm quite tempted to install it and play it again. The dog fights were awesome.
