RIP Nanoships

So much for the vaga being able to kit anything with a missile ship in it (Yay, this is gona make faction warfare so much more fun  ). Here's my ship set-ups to start with. Since I can overheat, that's been factored in for all ships as well.

Vagabond
T2 10mn MWD
3 Overdrive II
2 Polycarbs

Rapier
T2 10mn MWD
2 Overdrive II
2 Polycarbs

Huginn
T2 10mn MWD
2 Polycarbs

Ishtar
T2 10mn MWD
3 Overdrive II
1 Nanofiber II
2 Polycarbs

Pre Patch Vaga: 8.5K
Post Patch: 3.8K

Pre Patch Rapier: 4.8K
Post Patch: 2K

Pre Patch Huginn: 3.6K
Post Patch: 1.5K

Pre Patch ishtar: 5.3K
Post Patch: 2.2K

Not happy :x

Finally. It was fucking stupid that large ships could go that fast.

With the singular execption of the ishtar, how'd you figure that?

It's not like my 8.5K a second vagabond is dealing any damage at all at that range. What it did mean was I could get into peoples back-yards, kill the mongs who didn't watch local and intel channels, and get the fuck outa dodge before a nice hostile gang managed to land on my head via jump bridges (Hi CVA  ).

Now, remind me again, without blobing, how can I go kill stuff in 0.0? Solo BS is dead, HACs can't do speed, ceptors can't do damage. It's just pandering to all the girls on eve-o who couldn't get their heads around how low the effective DPS of a nanohac is (again, ishtar accepted) and how easily tanked it is if you can be bothered to organise yourself properly (Hey guys, all those PVpers raiding us, get ship types X, Y and Z ready with modules A, B and C so we can counter them next time they come calling).

If I can't get kills, I fuck off. Simple as tbqfh.

maybe you should shitstorm on the eve-o forum like everyone else, then. it won't change anything, though :D

Your behind on the times, I was arguing with trolls on page 80-something.

Anyway, if CCPs got as far as bloging about it, it's pretty much done and decided. Remeber those ideas they had for carriers that were just to get our input on. 50 pages of shitstorm with a mass majority of the people saying bad idea, no, then the changes go onto sisi, que another 50 pages of shitstorm. Even then, some of the ideas went onto TQ. I just think it's sad that this is how they work (and yay, more minmatar nerfs. Can't see a reason to ever really get out of my hurricane now).

See also, how this is going to effect 0.0 fleet warfare. Titans are now even more I Win, because it wasn't hard enough to break a titan guarded cyno jammer before

This is why I quit EvE, CCP weren't listening and fucked up the game.

Mom's and Titans being invunerable was funny, with the first ones being lost to lag out, abuse of the aggression timer, and in one case, crashing of the node while it was under construction.

Also lollersome was an invunerable ship having the most powerful single shot weapon in the game and being able to fire it remotely.

CCP just weren't listening, they should have stamped nano ships on the head within a month or so of them FIRST coming out 2 years ago or so, before the minor nerf.

To be fair, they did nerf speed before now, but that was quite justified (Lol, 20% increase to MWD speed boost? 660% became 792% with just the one rig, then you overheated...).

Just sorta starting to realize why I log in less and less these days. Really not all that bothered about re-activating silver, and he's got 1/4 bil in the wallet. I enjoy the small gang shit. Only viable way I can see to do that now is tanked ships with logistics support, which is gona make you slow, and thus easy to blob via the wonder that is the jump bridge. or it'll get me killed by the caldari megablobs.

Hey, I know! I war dec some random nobs in high sec, that's what I engage with a small gang!

Oh wait, it gets better. Minmatar BS are clearly to overpower in the close range department.

May I introduce our mass increases and inertia nerfs!

Tempest now aligns worse than a raven. A Raven.

Be fair, this is a far greater nerf that the one you remeber :P

That fact that the dev arguements are balanced around a few billion isk worth of modules and fittings make me giggle as well...

hardly. The one I was refering to was before *your* time in EVE, even. multiple MWD's whos bonus's stacked = a cruiser that could easily hit over 100k. Things got silly fast before that particular nerfing.

:above: I remember you telling me that some people were measuring their speed in AUs rather than m/s

Just because it's before my time doesn't mean I'm not aware of it ;)

See Also 8 heat sink geddons with no stacking penality
Moo with instagib moas
GNW
Xetic Federation
etc

But on a raw speed level, your right. Even the pimpest ship in eve right now can only get up to around 63k/s, as opposed to the au/s 8 MWD scorpions. The reason I'd rank this change as being a far larger nerf is tied to how game mechanics and player infrastructure has build up in 0.0, along with the fact that fleets, even small one, are generally much bigger than they were in 04/5. Ofc, you still get 8 man outfits (Hi  ) but the average grunt has way more friends and allies then he did back then. I point you at the 30K+ players who took to evicting an alliance I was in recently. Never use to have those kinds of numbers...

Hence the profileration of speed based gangs, it's the only way to have a half way decent chance at killing stuff without dying horribly yourself. Back then, iirc, you were considered a massive blob if you had 100 men in fleet. These days that's SOP for alliance fleets and close to the norm for faction warfare.
