They're copying the Miis, only decided that they need to be shinier because they're on the xbox, and so somehow miss the point of Miis in that they're very simplistic. I think that the current dashboard is nice and straight-forward, and community stuff like this should maybe be an option you can access from it, rather than a complete replacement.

It could do with an overhaul, it's looking mighty dated. Especially when you compare it to how slick the PS3 equivalent is looking.

So in great MS tradition they seem to have stolen the best elements from Nintendo and Sony's console front-ends. Go them.
