Superhero with image problems.
Hancock is a superhero with a few issues, he is an alcoholic and evertime he tries to help somebody it ends up turning to shit. Until the day he saves the life of a PR man who helps him turn his image around and discover who he really is.
OK so the last bit sounds a bit sloppy and chick flicky, and it is - my GF was crying at the end, but this does not spoil the filim in anyway and the underlying touchy feely story will keep the women happy.
Will Smith plays the title role and does a damn good job of it, he is a drunk, abusive, mean, self centered SOB and is believable with it. He is annoying when the storyline requires him to be and he is likeable and heroic when required too. Quite a contrast to Jason Bateman's PR man, who is hollow and unbelievable, and who I hated from the start. Charlize Theron plays the love interest of both of them and, well, it's Charlize Theron - nuff said.
Jason Batemans poor performance aside, there is little I can poke at this film, it is an enjoyable film with strong emotional ties to the characters (que GF's tears) and lots of laughs too.

I recommend you go see it. Don't listen to the guy on IMDB.

7 Pies I think, loses pies for Jason Batemens performance and a slightly disjointed story line.

I have to admit to liking the look of this. Despite popular opinion, Will Smith has barely done a film I've not liked. I'll probably not get to see it until the DVD comes outy though.

That's arguable, but I mostly like what he does.

I was left slightly "meh" after this film. Smith was brilliant in it, and it worth watching for him alone, but the rest of the film was...meh. Nothingy. You could sum up the plot in one sentence, leaving almost nothing out, the other actors acting was dodgy at best, and there were plot holes a gogo. It was fun, and im glad I went to see it, but it was no more than "not shit".

I remember reading recently that the cinema version was edited quite heavily to get a lower rating and as a result did make it a bit disjointed, if a directors cut comes out, I suspect that might address plot issues.

However, I might have dreamt reading about that, I'm currently 50/50 on it.

Charlize Theron...she can look so hot with the proper makeup/lighting...and other times...kinda blah.
