just found a great new online RPG called Blitz 1941, it's currently in free beta and it's great.

It's basically like this, you choose from either Germany or USSR (you can't change) and then you are given your first tank, you go and fight other tanks to win money and experience so you can buy better tanks and things like better muzzles and engines to make your tank better. Addionally you are given skill points and military points, skill points are spent on skills like temporary power boosts or the ability to disable an opponents tank with a shot. Military points are spent on permanant upgrades like increased fire power or turret rotation speed.

So anyway, on to the gameplay, you go on to the battlefield from your chosen base and the idea is to caputre your opponents base by destrying their tanks and defenses before stopping infront of their base for a while to capture it.

In the higher levels you can capture airfields which allow you to launch air strikes and many games includes upwards of 60 tanks.

Downloading. I'll give this a go, although it'll have to fight for my time with Eve, COD2, BEEF and RO. I do like tanks though (especially WW2 flavoured).

EDIT: Installed and about to play. I'm going to start as German because I know the tanks better, although I suspect Russian will be the less popular side and so the more appealing to me.

First impressions:

Not bad actually. It's pretty simple and easy to pick up, and rather arcadey, but it is quite fun. I've only seen the first tier of tanks, but there looks to be quite a lot - there's two different Panzer IIs, and I don't think they were particularly significant on the Eastern front. The skills are a bit odd, but seem to work okay in game terms een if they aren't particularly realistic.
I've yet to work out how to create 5punk Corps, but maybe Sandwich can shed some light on this. As it stands I'm a low ranking officer in the 96th Newbie Company.
Once I've played it a bit more I'll write a review, but at the moment I'd say it was worth the free 5-10min download to have a crack at.

That would be an SPG (self propelled gun), as opposed to an MBT (main battle tank). I've recreated myself as a Russian and we now have a 5punk Coy under Mr Sandwich. I do say I rather prefer the Russians, despite there seeming to be a lot more clueless (and by that I mean incapable of following the advice of the recently-n00b) newbies there.

If anyone else fancies it you'll have to post your Commander name here so Sandwich can invite you to the Company (Coy).

I found this about a week back, gave it a quick try for a few hours but got bored of it... But - with all Korean things - it'll be free for now but when it comes out of beta expect to pay - no point me getting addicted to it if I'm already paying for CoV.

When I have to pay I'll stop playing it. I can barely justify paying for Eve with the hours I can log.

The level 4-7 battlefields I'm playing on are pretty busy. There's no trouble finding a fight at least, although my 'Capture a supply depot' mission is proving tricky :(

Is it me or are the German tanks a lot tougher than the Russian ones? I could just be crap, but it seems to take me ages to kill one, while they turn me into a pile of smouldering scrap in no time.

Also, shouldn't this thread be in the Other MMONGS forum?
