This time, going as far as 24/96 .wav (which sounds slightly better than the flac version. just.)

Listened to. Tracks 1-6 are horribly overmixed.
Sounds like walking past a series of not quite soundproofed recording studios. I bet reznor thinks he's fucking win for mixing so many levels in and creating a glitchy electro deconstruction sound. But it sounds like shit.
Tracks 7 is a random piano/vocal breakdown thing.
8 and 9 he appears to have mostly given up on the glitchy stuff and gone for mind bending synth sounds, heavy bass and random beeps/whistles etc, it's better mixing imo, not unnecessarily over complicated and he also sings better. It's much better.
track 10 he adds a shit kick drum to the heavy bass and synths. Not too bad.

I thought the wav had slightly more range, and a bit more punch to it, but that was listening to pick out the encoders, rather than just usual listening.MrGreen wrote:Odd, the .WAV 24/96 stuff sounded a little bit worse than the FLAC to my ears. Could be because my Audigy2 ZS doesn't like 96 too much but I think it sounds a bit muddy, 'speshully on the first couple of really over-mixed tracks.
There's fuckall in it for general use, I'll stick to the flac.

I really liked ghosts 1-35, they were more of the parts of NIN that i found the most interesting... I mean, the vocals always left little to be desired in my opinion. My favorites have always been Just Like You Imagined and La Mer (not strictly instrumental, i know) i've yet to download this, so i guess i'll give it a spin
