That does look incredible. But I am wary that games that look awesome at some conference often don't turn out that playable. Plus recent stuff from Maxis hasn't done it for me.

I am cautiously optimistic
This. The cynic in me says it's over ambitious, the gamer in me spurts love juices into Will Wright's eye.
This looks fantastic. Is it a single player game or a mmomg? Not sure if the uploading of cratures from other players is interactive or they're just loaded up and roam around on their own.
If its a good as it appears, I fear it may be horribly addictive.

From what I can tell, its single player, and although the other critters are player made by people around the world, they are computer controlled.
BUT, the game keeps stats on how your critters fare in other peoples games. So if you make something badass it can still destroy other peoples civilisations.
Yes, did remember reading an article on spore about 6 months back, only a few paragraphs. The developer#s initial description was enough to make me loose my breath. Talk about open-ended gamplay..

From what I read, it uses your internet connection to upload other people's civilisations and creatures, and puts them on planets, which then exist in your singple player universe. Then you can blow 'dem up tooo.
When watching the video for about 5 minutes I thought to myself "That's totally something Wil Wright would do..." Then I looked at the bottom right and I said "Oh, that's something Wil Wright is doing!"

That's what he says/does in the video but lets hope other people dont upload teh h4x with their creations and destroy all your world.
