If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

DVD Drives

Post by Chickenz »

Is it possible to get around the whole region thing on drives???

I currently have one dvdrewritey drive in my pc at the moment and it is set to region 2, if i was to put my second drive in could i theoretically lock it and only it to region 1 allowing me too watch my yankee doodle dvds???

if not what is the best dvd player i could get preferably from currs/comet that i could get a code for and swap between regions 1 and 2.

it's often possible to use a firmware flash to get around the drive issue (people make custom firmwares that are region free) (http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php)

or there's apps like this that disables the region checking stuff (doesn't work on all drives)
