In Bruges

Two hitmen are hiding out in Bruge after a job in London goes slightly askew, waiting for instructions from their boss when things start to go a little bit pear shaped. Not happy with their performance their boss (Fiennes) takes disciplinary matters into his own hands.

To be honest I am still not sure what to make of this film, it involves racist dwarfs, hitmen, london gangsters and a bizarre camp weapons dealer - in Belgium. The plot cannot be analyzed or discussed without spoiling it for other but i can say that it involves a lot of Harry Potter cast members - Voldermort is a London gangster who swears a lot, Mad Eye Moody is a hitman with a love of old buildings and Fleur deLaceur (she was the fit french one in Goblet of Fire) is a drug dealer to a film crew. It all leads toward a bizarre funny and tragic end. Do not watch if you do not have a twisted sense of humour.

i'll have to watch this, i went to school in brugge for a long time, and it really is the most boring, safest town i've ever seen. there weren't even any limericks and cdc's on the public toilets, and the entire bloody town was as clean as a whistle, expect for the canals. and weapon dealers?! the best thing you could get was a stapler.

I saw a trailer for In Bruges t'other day, thought it looked rather good.

Ralph Fiennes, Brendan Gleeson, Clemence Posy. I remembered all those names, it would seem character/actor names do sometimes stick.

It also has Colin Farrell in, he's great in Miami Vice and an unmitigated cock in Alexander, but that film is gash. Best Farrell film imo is intermission.

What would you score it out of ten anery?

Well, just for the amount of times Fiennes says the workd 'fuck' on a note I would give it 7 but the dwarf was inspired.

I agree with all of the above except the score.

I'd give it 7/10 and say it was well worth watching. But it's not some life changing insta-classic, despite the karate chopping of the racist dwarf that had me biting my knuckles I was laughing that hard.

Watched it on saturday, and although it was a bit weird for me to watch, (as i mentioned earlier i went to school in Bruges so i recognized all of the buildings and places and stuff, very déja-vous) i really really loved it. I was slightly dissapointed that they didn't hire any real Flemish actors, the only three belgian characters, Ray's girlfriend, her ex and the hotel owner were played by a french girl, a French Belgian (Walloon) and a dutch girl. I can see where they are coming from though, International actors means more people in foreign cinemas. Still, it might've been a good opportunity for a local actor to gain some credibility. Furthermore i liked it for all the reasons mentioned above, so no point in bringing it all up again.

I'd give it 7,5, but the racist dwarf deserves an 8.

(also, when you get out of the station you do indeed see a dual carriageway, it's always nice to see a bit of accuracy in a film.)
