One of the ships impounded for damaging the undersea cables earlier this year has been released after the owner paid a massive fine / restitution.

The ship was released after a Korean shipping company, which owns it, paid huge compensation to Flag Telecom, a subsidiary of Reliance Globalcom, as damage, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Wow! Facts on that piccy - Asia has 501 million of the worlds 1.3 billion internet users, and their numbers are growing by 882% each year! That's a lot of gold farmers!

Also capacity of the cross channel cables is 7.1 terabytes per second, 5.7 tbps is actually bought and only 2.1 is even used! And ISP's complain they have no capacity left.

Good find bobbins!
