Cookery shows

Continuing the cookery theme.
Did anyone see
Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory? It's an odd mix of reality show (along the lines of that one with Jamie Oliver's mate starting up a farm) and cookery. And they are terribly posh. Kind of interesting.
That new Delia Smith one is wank.
And I need to see some more Good Eats.

I've been meaning to have a look at that, will do now.

Good eats is by
far my fave cooking show, and there's 11 seasons of it now*, which is a really good thing, mostly concentrates on 2 or 3 ingredients or recipes in a show, and goes into the right details.
*
If people want it, I have damn near every episode (about 30gb) so give me a poke
I also like Chef at Large, some crazy huge chef who goes and visits chefs/resurants/random stuff and has a crazy murderer stare. tis interesting (avoid Chef at Home though, that annoys me)

btw all the recipes seem to include the product that the show is all about, this 100% cocoa bar. Not sure I'd want to eat anything I saw.

Eh? 100% cocoa?! That's just cocoa and cocoa butter! That''d make your whole body pucker inward with the bitterness. My limit is about 75% after that it's so bitter it dries my mouth and makes my stomach cramp. A really strong coffee and a small block of super dark chocolate is bloody good for when you feel so full you might puke.

Personally, I suspect the guy has eaten so much of it that he can't taste how nasty it is.
Also, he seems to be fucking obsessed with putting it in
everything he cooks, can't see it adding much myself.

For the purposes of the show I'm sure, which I'm also sure you realised. The whole show smacks of a marketing machine to sell his questionable product. Although the episode I saw was interesting none-the-less and I really wanted to try those cakes and puddings. The less than convincing reality sections are a little surreal.

I considered that, then I figured he was completely fanatical to the point of risking everything, so decided he probably was retarded enough to put chocolate in everything.

You could be right, in fact I hope you are. What could be the most inappropriate dish to add cocoa to?

Breast milk.

That's not a dish! We can all shout out random things that might be eaten/drunk eg - fried locusts.

I think chocolate would go particularly badly in an omelette, or with most meat

Dark chocolate is quite good in some beef dishes apparently (adds to the richness of flavour). A few of the foodies on b3ta have tried it and confirmed it.

My mate puts it in chilli, I've never bothered as my chilli ranges from really hot to fucking nosebleed in strength.

I've seen/heard that a few times, never really did anything but ignore it as bollocks though.

That's the one I was thinking of. Can't say I've tested it myself - but I can kinda see /feel the logic.

I just watched ep 2 of Willie's wanky chocolate factory.
All I'm convinced of so far is that he's an utter twat.
oh, and he made risotto with chocolate in it, looked much like someone puked rice.
edit: oh, and the mother talks to the kids on the same level as she talks to the dog. should probably be shot.

I've tried that (although I used a teaspoon of chocolate powder). Tasted okay to me, and Mrs Pants liked it too, but I'm not sure if we could actually taste it or just thought it tasted different because we knew it was there.

I've done chilli with chocolate too.
Either I have poor taste buds (probable) or it just didn't taste different at all.

Fuck Me.
Just watched the most recent episode (Dillons restaurant) of Kitchen Nightmares USA.
I strongly suggest watching it, the show sucks, but the restaurant is truly shocking.
First time I've actually seen Ramsay angry.
