Guys, at this rate it's never going to work

Post by Hehulk »

I was looking at the numbers earlier on how much we're making so far this week, and how much we've used up in POS fuel, and at the rate we're going we'll be completly bankrupt in a little over a month. Currently we're using up 70 million isks of fuel a week. So far this week we've mined about 13 million isk worth of megacyte.

That's just not sustinable. Last week we did some mining, but most of the stuff we mined got used up building ships, so next to no profit there. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. So so far, we've used up about 110 million isk of fuel. Now, I'm more than happy to accept everyone has real life stuff. Iritating things like jobs, family, friends. Stuff that demands attention. Just when we moved out into 0.0 I did say it was going to require a few weeks serous hard mining to get the corp wallet up and then we'd have a few months of we're ok, lets just mine for us and perhaps for 5punk ships a bit.

We had a great effort geting the POS down there, getting it fueled up from the get-go, and then making sure everything we needed was there. Since then we've stymed and it's just not working now. So, When we get to the end of the week, I'm going to look at our books, see how much more we've mined, and then see if it's going to be even close to our running costs for the week. If it's not, in an attempt to keep ahold of the rapidly dwindling isk we've got left I'm going to start taking the POS down and moving parts back to berta.

In short. We've been slacking. badly. Now we've got our asses in gear before we hit the ground hard. We've already wasted one POS. let's not waste another.

EDIT: trust me when I say it gave me no pleasure what so ever in typing that out, but something had to be said really...

I couldn't agree more. God knows, I've put enough of my time and effort, not to mention ships and ISK into these POS ventures and I will NOT see it fail at this juncture. End of story. Read that anyway you want to.

We also need to sell the Haf. Here's some more info on that:

We need more hours put into mining.
So we either need people to put in more hours, which in my experience doesnt generally work: its difficult to fob your wife/girlfriend/mates off with: "nah sorry I can spend time with you, I have to go mine/raid/level", you tend to have less of them by the time you're done.

Or we simply need more people.
Which could of course be counter-productive, but in my not so humble opinion, is necessary.

I can sympathise that that entirly. Occasionally even I go out with my friends (very occasionally), but right now there's hardly anyone doing any mining. And I'd be loathe to get people in while we're all not doing much of anything as what kind of impression is that going to give?
"Hello, come join 5punkorp and mine your ass off while the rest of us sit back". MIght work or a week or two, but we'd never keep people in the long run, either because they'd leave the corp or they'd leave eve (we've had that happen in the past. Only person left from it is Friz)

We just need to pull ourselves back together. that's what 0.0 is all about. teamwork.

:above: :above: Overly encouraging. if we can get 2000 a unit, that's 1/3 of our weekly costs covered.

I'll keep thinking, but pretty much everyone I know is happy where they are, afaik. I'll keep thinking and ask around, but I somewhat doubt it.

As Friz pointed out on the in-game names thingy, I am mostly on inn the mornings. Actually .. during the day too (staves off unemployment related boredom) but evenings and weekends have always been a bit sticky for me, as my wife has the arguement "but you can play at that all day" etc etc.

That said, I will put some effort in to getting at least a once a week pass where Bubble can watch more Buffy (I can always catch up the episodes I miss during the day) and I can haul for the miners (like on Monday).

Another thing that I would be able / willing to put in significant time to is daytime mining. I guess we need min 3 pilots. Tank/mine/haul. I offer myself up fro the hauling.

Another way of making isk if your on by yourself is ratting. For example, once I've made enough to buy, fit and insure a new ship in the event of losing this one (approx 50mill) I'm willing to donate the surplus rat rewards to the corp fuel fund. Drops can be repro'd and the mins go towards ships or sold for more isk.

It makes a change from mining, is fairly lucrative and is instant isk: in my Ferox I can make about 10 mill solo ratting in an afternoon.

my ratting atm prolly nets a million a session, so it's not going to make or break the corp wallet. I would accept a tax rate though, if it'll make a difference. another idea; corp ratting night.

We emptied processed mins and hafnium out of the POS this am, between Rydis, hehulk and myself. All now at Berta. We have a buyer for the Hafnium @2100/unit, which is the best deal we could find between Metro,Heim,Derelik,Forge,Molden heath and Tash (wherever that is). anyone in another region feel free to log on and see if there's a better price out there!

It's 36 jumps through safe space from Berta to Jita though (still 26 direct) and that goes through several other regios so I'll check those on the way this afternoon.

That's excellent news! Well done guys. 2100 pu is about the best I've found on my tavels too and should net us about 2/3 of the weekly fuel costs.

As for taxing: they say death and taxes are inevitable but I'm actually averse to the idea. I'd rather people gave willingly to make the POS work. Perhaps a comedy charity style quota graph thing of say, 100mill isk per week for the corp fund to cover fuel, Alliance fees and incidentals plus a little profit to build up towards our second POS. People can donate anyway they see fit, from ratting to trading, mining or selling themselves on the streets of KDF-GY.
