Mouse freezing randomly.

Right, this one has me stumped.
Some time last week my mouse started freezing randomly, I kinda assumed it was due to my windows being totally knackered, So I reinstalled windows, yet the issue remains.
Temps are fine, memory doesn't seem to be the issue (though, I suspect memory was the cause last time i had this issue), other stuff on the same USB ports works fine. Mouse cable seems fine.
Only thing that may have triggered it was unplugging/replugging the mouse a few times while i was stealing it to setup another machine.
Ideas?

Broken mouse? Have you tried a different mouse to see if the same thing happens?

not tried that yet, doesn't seem likely as the mouse isn't a year old, and doesn't die nomatter how much i abuse it.

Dry joint on the mobo then possibly.
Saying that, I've had 2 pc's with a similar issue, only happens on my Razer Copperhead, which seems to happen occasionally on my brothers' as well; it just doesn't get detected at boot and for some reason windowz doesn't load in the drivers for it, have to unplug-replug. It seems to only happen after a forced rebootski though.

not likely, first started happening on my monitor's hub, tried front and both sets of rear panel ports

I think that's just a razer issue.

That's your problem right there buzz.
As for berk, given you are convinced the mouse is fine, it's probably the mouse.
My old mobo suffered a slow failing of multiple usb's, no idea why but at some point the front two stopped being capable of working together, they had mutual exclusivity but not full operation. Two of the four back ones then failed as well.
As for my mouse (I think the same type as yours Berk) it's been acting a bit weird with the last update through setpoint, it jumps to the top left of the screen on rare occasion.

Last time I had this I replaced my mx510 and the problem hung around, so i'm not that keen on assuming mouse.
I suspect last time it was a memory issue that took a while to appear, so I'm gonna leave memtest on overnight.

Not a wireless mouse, then. How much stuff in other USB ports/tried unplugging them temporarily? I guessing you have the power, but maybe something else isn't playing nice - I had a parasitic USB hub on my last PC which fucked over at least three external drives, until I replaced it with a powered one.
What sort of mouse? While my G5 has been aces, I do worry that if the moisture from my sweaty palm was to leak into the electronics where the sensitivity buttons on the top are, it would fuck it royally.
I think I had something similar, which happened under XP when it got maxed out with disk activity - can't really compare with my current PC as I've ditched XP entirely as I've never been able to get a stable driver setup, my 680i doesn't seem to be friends with anything except Fista.

Have you got drivers for it installed?
The only time I've ever had mouse-spack was when I installed a mouse driver.
Mice shouldn't need drivers. They should use the USB HID standards. Unless super speshul.

Indeed, I believe the last time I installed mouse driver, it was called MOUSE.COM - but then I'm not a fan of mice with too many buttons.

I do has the drivers installed, but the issue exists without them
6 hours of memtest with no errors.
I'm thinking it's either windows fucking with USB (I did tell it to not turn off my devices, but I doubt that was the issue, due to the way it just appeared) or the mouse is fucked, or the mobo is fucked, neither of which seem likely.

I'd still try swapping the mouse out for a few days, see if you still have a problem. Just some cheapo nicked from work or whatever would do.
I have some freezing issues (and some random inversion issues) with my mouse at work. Banging it on the table has made it amusingly worse.
tried cleaning the pickup / sensor thingy ont eh mouse?
