Fista Compatibility

I'm probably going to sticky this, as more and more people are 'up'grading to Fista. Request or suggest your Fista compatible software here.

Anti Virus
AVG - Free
NOD32 - £50/3 years

Firewall
Windows Firewall - Improved since XP

Anti Spyware
Ad-Aware
Spybot S&D

Apps
OpenOffice
Magic ISO

Myself, I'm having issues with Sygate Personal Firewall on my laptop, and I don't like the trial of McAfee I've got. Can anyone recommend a decent firewall and AV solution that's Fista friendly? It's only my laptop so I'm looking to spend much (if any) money like I do on my desktop, and I've got my router firewall, but equivalents of SPF and AVG would be lovely.

There's a Nod32 offering now, dunno how that is, but would probably be a good start.

Might be worth it. I use it on my desktop, but I'm not sure it's worth another £50 for the amount of use I'd get out of it on my laptop.

Yes, NOD32 has a 64-bit flavour too (but still called NOD32), which seems fine on mine.

AVG and windoze firewall. Both free.

Ah right, I hadn't tried AVG yet because I had the McAfee trial running. I've got my AV solution sorted now anyway. Windows firewall is okay as a stopgap, but I'm not sure I trust it. Anyone know how reliable it is?

Seems to work for me. It's two-way, while xp's was only incoming.

Rule #1 of windows fucking firewall is that you don't use windows fucking firewall.

I remember SP1 firewall was utterly useless, and SP2 firewall just blocks everything. Except worms, trojans, keyloggers and cakes.

Windows Firewall is good enough for me. Although I'd be more careful if my PC was not behind a router firewall as well.

As I understand it windows firewall works, always has, and I expect always will.

Not sure why some of you lot are giving it bad press. It's a fuck load better than most of the bloated shit bundled with anti-virus.

It's not bell-and-whistles, granted, but then it's not supposed to be.

Yup. Never had an issue with windows firewall. It does what it says on the tin.

Sophos also works with Fista, but as they don't do the public market I'm not sure if they should be on there

Probably not much point if we can't buy it. Shame, I've heard good things about Sophos.

Looks like Sophos do have a client firewall jobber now.

Indeed they do, they used to sell small business edition either with or without it...

Now, I will tell you something about said product and I promise you on my life that this is 100% pure fact...

Both products were the exact same installer

The one without the firewall was called: SBE

The one with the firewall was called: SBE With Firewall

Whether or not you got the firewall depending on the name of the fucking exe! Oh my how I laughed (as far as I know that hadn't changed 6 months ago so if you have access to SBE, give it a whirl!)
